Last night I attended a party with former first Lady Michelle Obama, Janet Jackson, Kamala Harris, Ava DuVerney, Joe Biden, J-Lo, Snoop, and Rihanna to name a few of the VIPs. It was 9 hours of old school hip hop fun and it was amazing. Club Quarantine was just what the doctor ordered and if you’re not following DJ Nice on Instagram, get on that now! His handle is: DNICE. This dance party was a much needed break from the constant talk about the Coronavirus, quarantines, and people hoarding toilet paper. This experience is part of my temporary new normal and I thought that today’s episode would be a good one to share what does quarantine look like for an entrepreneur who is at the tail end of a significant part of debt repayment. And, as a person who’s working towards specific goals related to: being debt free, meeting the one, being healthy, and spending time with my family. In a word the quarantine life is complicated. So, I thought I would share how things are here for me in my town of Denver, Colorado. This episode will also share: silver linings during this time (there are a few), thoughts on the vibe that you’re bringing during this time, free resources, and a final question.

Show Notes
- There are still people who are confused about why in the hell we’re being told to stay our butts at home. I’m going to give you the Cliff Notes:
- Every day there are: births, regular check ups, daily health care related issues, and end of life services
- Coronavirus is a new virus being introduced to humans and we have no immunity, currently, to it.
- We need to buy time between now and next year when they’ve developed a vaccine of sorts for it.
- We are working to avoid a spike in infections all at the same time overwhelming our hospitals, etc.
- Italy is an example of that happening.
- This is NOT like the flu. It’s a respiratory ailment. Basically affecting your lungs and ability to freaking breathe.
- Still don’t get it. May the odds be forever in your favor.
- Regardless, we are now being mandated to self-isolate as way to slow the speed of the infection rate.
- Weirdly enough my daily life hasn’t really changed.
- I work for myself. So, I still am waking up at 5:00 or 6:00 am working on my projects, having virtual meetings, and being signed on for new projects.
- I still shower and get dressed.
- I’m still talking on the phone with my mom and grandma.
- I’m still prioritizing getting outdoors and getting some workouts in.
- What has change is the fact I am no longer able to go to my co-working space, I can no longer linger inside at my favorite coffee shops, and the fact that I’m now on emergency focus mode like I was in 2008 and 2009 during the Great Recession.
- I’m fighting going down the dystopian novel/movie rabbit hole and making sure to stay healthy mentally and positive.
- Colorado restaurants have pick up and delivery service only.
- Grocery stores are open and have someone disinfecting the carts and baskets all day long. That is their only job.
- If you’re a cannabis user you can now do curbside pick up.
- And, if you enjoy a nice drink that’s now available for delivery.
- Toilet paper is the new white gold.
- I walked in the park like I normally do throughout the year, but I was amazed by all of the people in large groups at the park. Unfortunately, I can see a shelter in place order coming soon if that continues.
- My fellow Coloradans are clearly preoccupied as you would expect. Some are still saying “hi” others are freaked out, many are buying guns, and others are mobilizing to help others.
- What has really fascinated me about this whole experience is how much my life HASN’T CHANGED during this time and the role technology plays in my personal situation.
- I no longer go to the mall. I literally stopped going to the mall about 5 years ago and as the years have passed my reliance on Amazon Prime delivery has grown for:
- Clothes
- Books-via my Kindle Unlimited Membership
- Household items
- Etc.
- I no longer go to the mall. I literally stopped going to the mall about 5 years ago and as the years have passed my reliance on Amazon Prime delivery has grown for:
- I order groceries or pick them up from the farmer’s market during the summer.
- I LOVE the library but I can order books online=not having to go to the library
- Hulu/CBS All Access/and Netflix for entertainment
- On the days that I can’t workout at my studio, I use online workouts or apps and now my studio is streaming our classes online in real time. And, I had a great time taking a class this weekend online.
- I regularly meet with people via Zoom Conferencing and have for years.
- I sell products online and sold products all last week. Don’t forget to grab my resource: Do It Ugly below.
- What products? Ebooks
- Courses
- Coaching
- Freelance writing-Super busy depending on the space you write in.
- When I decided to learn how to work for myself several years ago it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I had to fight:
- Self-doubt
- Squirrel syndrome
- Other people’s opinions
- And continue to pay off all of my debt. In fact, I’m paying off the last $6,000 in unsecured debt this year after paying off $60,000 in debt. I still have student loans. The process has been much messier than I would have liked, but I still got it done.
- What will change for me moving forward? Not much. I focus on the fact that this, too, shall pass.
- I’m pitching more
- Writing books
- Paying off debt
- Trying to focus on kindness and giving people grace during this time.
- Helping others and moving forward.
- I finally opened one of my three bottles of free champagne. What in the hell was I waiting for? If there’s something that I’ve learned from this experience is this-stop waiting. Now is the time for love, risk, weight loss, travel, to see your family and friends.
- Be mindful of the vibe that you’re sending out to the world. Seriously, I’m taking notes and remembering who you are. Moments like these show the best and worst of people’s behavior. The guys who bought 17,000 bottles of Purrell will never live that down. Don’t be that guy.
- If you’re an online influencer check your prescheduled tweets/etc. Don’t be tone deaf right now.
- I’m sharing positive information, funny stories, and helpful tips. I do have my political beliefs that won’t change. But, posting about them daily, etc. isn’t helping the vibe “in the room” if you know what I mean.
- Right now I’m focusing on taking action, staying positive, and focusing on what I can actually control.
- My actions
- My spending
- My earnings
- My vibes
- I would like to end this episode with what I miss and won’t take for granted ever again:
- Hugs
- People not being afraid to speak on the street
- The ability to meet up with people when I want to.
- Events
- Freedom of movement
- Buying lots of toilet paper without being judged. I always have a ton in the house.
- Rocky Mountain National Park-They closed it
- Walking around without worrying that I’m asymptomatic and accidentally infecting someone’s MeMaw/Grandma with the virus
- Time with my family
- Final Question: What do you need help with? Email me at: michelleismoneyhungry@gmail.com

My roommate brought home the guy who was tested positive for the coronavirus saturday night. He said he was let go of quarantine, but I give zero f’s if he was or not, he should NOT have been here. So yeah, that was fun. I get to live in close proximity with an uncaring a-hole. Good times. 🙁

What the hell?! Is this some rando she met? What is the point of self-isolating when you bring it into your home. Just wipe down everything with bleach.
