When I was a little girl, my mom used to read the Ant and the Grasshopper to me ALL THE TIME. For some reason, I really loved that story (so did my mom). When I look back at how I worked this summer, I am excited to enjoy all of the fruits of my labors as they begin to bloom during the Fall. Put simply, I planted a heck of a lot of “seeds” this summer and I think those seeds will bear fruit (generate income) this Fall. When I first started sharing these income reports I reported a whopping $11 dollars that first month. It was a bit disheartening and a little embarrassing. I was making income with my website but there were two huge problems: the income was inconsistent and it wasn’t growing in any specific direction. This is no longer the case. Hopefully my August Blog Income Report will give readers ideas on how to diversify income with their own projects. Also, I lost almost 10 days of productivity because I was out of town. Cutting travel and distractions has been instrumental in helping me focus and get results. At the end of this post I talk about not attending FinCon and why.

August Income Generated $3269.60
Please note that this is passive income generated by my blog. I will breakdown what I actually received during the month, but I think it’s important to see income generated and to note when that pending income will begin hitting my account. I’ll note that in the income breakdown below.
- My blog income reports do not include freelance writing or side-hustle income in them. I now focus on writing ebooks and won’t be freelance writing after October of 2019. Instead, I’m focusing on self-publishing and selling my course “Make Money with Ebooks.”
- Incomplete earnings are never included. They are so confusing and hard to keep track of. Also, it may take awhile to hit the earnings threshold to get a payout. So, why bother.
- As always, I like to mention that I am specifically focused on bringing in passive income. Now that summer is almost over (crossing fingers) I’m projecting earnings to continue climbing up steadily.
Finding My Passive Income Mix
For the past 2 or 3 years I’ve spent A LOT of time working on building passive income. It has required a level of focus and steadfastness that I didn’t expect.
Then, something happened, I figured out my personal passive income mix and it has been a game changer. The most difficult thing about making money online isn’t making the money.
- It’s figuring out what is a natural fit
- Who you would like to serve
- Building Consistency
- Building out products
Doing all of this in the beginning is a MASSIVE pain in the a@@. It really was, now that I’ve figured it out, I’m able to focus on sharing what has been working for me and growing that income. I mention all of this to say the following:
Figuring out your passive income mix is a pain but stick with it! I’ve already my almost $140 in passive income for the month and it’s only September 2nd.

The Tipping Point
I’ve finally hit a tipping point in terms of bringing in income from my own products. I’m so dang happy! These are the areas where I’ll be focusing moving forward:
- Amazon Affiliates-If you’re not on this NOW right before the Fall spending season, jump on it. The only negative with Amazon Affiliates-it has a 24 hour cookie. So, you have to work a little harder to get people to connect with your Amazon Affiliate links. But, it’s also the largest retailer in the US, it’s very likely that someone will purchase an item after they click on your link.
- 10KVA-It’s a great course and I love sharing it with my readers!
- Ibotta-I use Ibotta to save on groceries! And, I make fun money with Ibotta.
- Make Money with Ebooks-The course that I created to help would be authors finally publish their books.
- Autumn Stone Books-These are my fun, smutty romances. They are a ton of fun to write and very lucrative.
- Non-Fiction-Michelle Jackson informative books. I will be publishing several during the Fall. Currently, I have three published-will share below. These books are a great way to help people who would like information on a specific topic.
- Sponsors-I will be pitching for sponsors for my podcasts moving forward.
Here are my current non-fiction books.
Build Your Own Products
In 2019-2020, this would be my #1 piece of advice. Become known for something and figure out different ways to optimize that knowledge.
- Write books
- Make a course
- Run workshops/webinars
- Design helpful tools
- Coach
Solve people’s problems. Pay attention to what they are saying and have the informative blog/tool/or vlog that will answer their question.
Missing FinCon 2019
I’m missing this year’s FinCon! It will be two years in a row, but I CAN’T WAIT to go to Long Beach in 2020! I am looking forward to hanging out in California next year. But, just because I’m missing FinCon doesn’t mean that I don’t have a plan to leverage the event.
I do.
In fact, I still have brand related meetings. My course Make Money with Ebooks is on sale this week for attendees. And, FinConners have been using my “Crush the Conference“ webinar to get ready for the event. Don’t forget to check out the webinar slides too. I’ve included a link at the bottom of the show notes.
Don’t feel sad for me, I just had an insanely amazing Podcast Movement and I hang out with FinCon people all year long (a ton of them at Podcast Movement and Lola) too.
Seriously, I see them all the time. Wishing you a kick a$$ time at FinCon!!

Thinking About Starting a Blog?
I love blogging! It has been an incredible experience, transformed my life, and connected me with a ton of amazing people. Blogging is a pretty cheap activity and I recommend hosting your blog with Siteground. Many bloggers have begun leaving HostGator and BlueHost and moving to Siteground. Myself included! Read why I’m leaving HostGator and BlueHost (I have 2 blogs one on each hosting platform) and moving to Siteground. If you’re a new blogger Siteground will cost around $3.95 a month (depending on the size of your audience). They have great customer service and tutorials on how to host your new WordPress blog on Siteground. Check out the following guide by Elite Blog Academy on how to set up your blog.
