I’ve never done this before but for this show I have a content warning. My guest and I have a very frank and occasionally a bit graphic discussion about the sex work industry, what it’s like and of course we talk all about the money. If you’re uncomfortable with this as a topic, don’t listen to the show. It’s NC-17 for a reason. I will admit that I was a bit intimidated by the idea of having this conversation. But, I felt like it was important to learn more about how the sex industry works, what attracts primarily women to the space and I wanted to really understand the money part of the story. This conversation pushed me in a lot of ways and I hope that I was able to acknowledge my own personal bias and ignorance before having this conversation. It’s my hope that you will learn as much as I did during this conversation.

- Minnie St. Claire introduces herself and shares where she is on the web.
- She started in 2003 as a webcam model and is now 36 years old. Intriguingly, she’s now interested in FIRE
- I ask the question we’re all wanted to ask “How did she end up in the industry?” The story surprised me.
- She shares how she researched and found out about the industry and recalls the first product that she purchased with the money that she earned. I’m struck by how much danger she was in…
- I ask a question that makes me a little uncomfortable. “Was the parental neglect that you experienced why she landed in this space?”
- She didn’t graduate high school and was no longer eligible for underage therapy.
- Side-note, Minnie is Canadian.
- I bring up Simone Biles taking care of her mental health.
- I touch on the idea of being young and invincible and not being aware of the danger that I was in when taking dangerous risks. Minnie shares the story of a girl that she knew who was killed.
- She shares that she was forcibly confined…even though she still had contact with her parents during this time.
- Minnie makes the point “You can’t go to HR” when things aren’t going well and compartmentalizing what was going on.
