What Does a TikTok Virtual Assistant Do?
Just like with every other type of social media, the growth of an influencer’s platform impacts what they can do on a day to day basis. A TikTok Virtual Assistant is there to help the influencer with other aspects of their expanding business. These tasks can grow over time depending on the overall goals of the influencer, products and services that they may produce and other daily/weekly/monthly obligations that may come up.
- Respond to viewer comments on videos. The TikTok VA could respond to general comments and refer the creator to more nuanced or detailed comments that they could respond to.
- Block bot and spam accounts. Unfortunately, there is a problem on TikTok with spam/bot accounts. Blocking and reporting those accounts can take a ton of time and most creators don’t have enough time to do this.
- Sharing resources and links that are requested by commenters.
- Updating website content with affiliate links.
- Ghostwriting content when needed for website.
- Moderating online events when the influencer is hosting a webinar or workshop.
- Uploading edited videos to the TikTok platform.

More TikTok Virtual Assistant Duties
- Designing opt-ins for individual videos or a series of videos.
- Keep track of TikTok video views and get a feel for which videos are resonating with the creator’s viewers.
- Help out when videos go viral. Videos go viral unexpectedly and while this is a good thing, some issues will come up and creators will find themselves having to trouble-shoot and navigate problems related to viral traffic.
- Work on other types of content that the creator may be designing such as:
- Podcast content
- Newsletters via Substack/regular email
- Lending a hand with social media scheduling
- Supporting launch sequences for products/services
- Research TikTok videos and what’s trending at the moment. Knowing this information is a key part of designing TikTok videos that actually get viewed. It can be a lot of fun to do but a little tedious for creators.
- Appointment scheduling for stich videos, podcast recordings or YouTube videos.
- Backend monetization logistics such as sharing affiliate links in the comments (if allowed per TikTok platform rules) assisting with funnel setup and sharing details around events such as webinars, coaching sessions or conference attendance.
How to Find TikTok Coaching Clients
Before connecting with random TikTok creators it’s important to discern whether or not the creator is at the point where they need your services and can they even pay for them? Creating an ideal client avatar and guideline will hopefully help you look in the right direction for clients that will ultimately become a good fit for you (and pay!) Here are somethings to work out.
- Can you tell if they are monetizing their brand? Are they
- Hosting events
- Selling books
- Have a course
- Freelance writing
- Getting paid for speaking
- Talking about earning affiliate income?
- Do you like what their brand is about and are you a part of their online community? Many creators say that they have found the best support from people who belong to and understand their online community.
- Does the creator have a somewhat cohesive brand-does what they’re working on make sense to you and other people?
- Are they fairly consistent with releasing content across platforms (not just on TikTok)
- Do they have their own website(s)? This is important because if they’re building their brand only on social media that places their brand at significant risk if the platform shuts down unexpectedly.
- Where in the world are they? How easy is it to work with the client based on their time zone?
- Have they expressed a need for support or that they’re overwhelmed and are looking for help?
What Should You Charge as a TikTok Virtual Assistant
Pricing is always tricky. It’s my view that it’s important to work through how much you would like to earn on average per client. There are some aspects to pricing that need to considered as well:
- Charging hourly runs the risk of having clients dictating your time vs. paying for the value (results) that you’re contracted to create for them.
- Pricing packages need to be reviewed quarterly so that you’re not offering too much and being paid too little OR offering too little for what you’re getting paid.
- Assess what your time is worth per hour. You will absolutely end up changing your fees as time goes on and you get a feel for the pricing of your services.
- Speak with other TikTok Virtual Assistants or Virtual Assistants who help with other types of social media.
Why Focus on Just TikTok
There are virtual assistants who focus on assistant clients with all of their social media feeds. But, there is a saying “The riches are in the niches” having one area of focus can help you become “THE” go to person for a that specific area of focus. There are thousands of social media assistants/virtual assistants-how many TikTok Virtual Assistants are there? Become that person.
