I’ve been playing Beyonce’s Renaissance album non-stop for months. It was just the right mix of empowerment, playfulness and Black girl anthem for me. Then, RIRI posted that photo of her holding a football confirming that she would be performing at the Super Bowl. I know for some people that decision is problematic. What I thought about was the fact, this probably also meant RiRi might be releasing some new music soon? Something that fans have been hoping for for more years than I can count.

However, this conversation that we’re going to have on the show today is about money. Beyonce and Rihanna are the faces of two billionaire households. Rihanna has built out her Fenty brand encompassing apparel, makeup, perfume and music earnings just to name a few of the holdings that she has. Beyonce has 30 years of work behind her and owns her music, has earnings from acting, apparel with her Ivy Park collaboration, brand deals and part ownership of the Tidal streaming platform which actually pays artists better than many other platforms.
I bring this up to say that these ladies are incredible examples of diversifying and building long-term wealth for themselves and for their families. So, when I started seeing memes jokingly talking about selling your house to go to their (alleged) tour or tours in 2023 I had to say something. Part of being empowered is being empowered with our money so that we can enjoy the concert without going broke. Real talk, if they go on tour it’s likely to be an expensive experience. So, I thought we would walk through how to plan financially for the cost of this experience so that I don’t see memes later talking about how you’re still paying for that experience 2 years later.
There’s nothing wrong with spending money on a unique experience and after years of staying home, I totally understand why people want to splash out on something fun. But, after paying off $60,000 in miscellaneous debts I want you to enjoy this experience without hurting your wallet.

What You Could (Potentially) Spend Attending Beyonce and Rihanna’s Tour
It has been awhile since I’ve attended a big concert. I’ve gone to small ones locally, but I haven’t had a chance to attend a big tour. There are a number of artists I would like to see but with coming out of COVID and just being a little unmotivated in general-I’ve stayed out of the streets. When I think of a joint tour featuring these two ladies or two separate tours…I feel like there’s so many approaches to how you would attend and variations on what you might end up spending on. So, I decided to share all of the things I could see someone spending on if they aren’t paying attention.
- Tickets-Conservatively $150 dollars and those are in the back of the arena
- Travel to another city if the tour isn’t stopping in your town
- Plane or Train tickets-$100+ depending on your airline carrier.
- Accommodation
- How many nights will you stay in town? Let’s say 2 nights and 3 days.
- 2 nights at the hotel $500
- Food-During your trip and at the concert
- 3 days of food equals 9 meals $25 a meal=$225
- Snacks=$50
- Hair and makeup
- Hair-Depends on the style $300 (ish)
- Nails $50-75 (mani and pedi)
- Clothing
- $150 (If you just got a cute top and inexpensive shoes)
- In-town transportation
- $50-75
- Souvenirs
- $100
- Random stuff
- Experiences in town $200
- Wasted money $50-$75
Total: $2,000
This is a realistic budget for attending an out-of-town concert. In my case, I just see the ladies stopping in Denver. I do imagine that they could have concert dates in Dallas or Los Angeles, requiring me to travel. But, I’m not a huge fan of paying several grand out of pocket so here are my thoughts on how to strategize to lower the overall cost of attending this tour.
How to Save $2,000 for Beyonce and Rihanna’s (alleged) Tour
I created a basic budget, but in all seriousness, you do not have to spend on all these line items. Here are a few quick and easy ways to save on your budget and lower the overall expense of attending.
- Once the dates are released, figure out how many months you have to work towards your savings goal.
- Visit Human Resources and have a small percentage of your income deposited into a Beyonce and Rihanna tour account (you don’t have to mention this to HR)
- Breakdown how much you need to save on a weekly or monthly basis from now until the tour date.
- Side-hustle! I love side-hustles and they are a great way to earn money for the things that you want. It’s important to pick a side-hustle that is easy to do, low-stress and pays well. I’ve included some suggestions below.
- Brand Ambassador-Work cool events as a brand ambassador (one of my favorite side-hustles)
- Work events at your local Convention Center, concert or sporting venue.
- Loopie-Become a washer with Loopie. This is specific to certain states. Wash other people’s clothes from the comfort of your home. You just need a washer and dryer and a passion for laundry. Current locations:
- Seattle, Washington
- Portland, Oregon
- San Diego, CA
- Austin, TX
- Dallas, TX
- Chicago, IL
- Atlanta, GA
- Washington, D.C.
- Pick up some freelance writing. Not sure where to begin? Freelance Writing Academy can get you started.
- If you’ve been thinking about starting a virtual assistant business, $10KVA is a great resource to help you get started.
- If your job offers overtime, work some overtime and use those extra earnings to pay for your trip.
There are so many opportunities to earn extra money to pay for your epic concert experience. The earlier you focus on planning how you’ll pay for everything, the easier it will be to say “yes” when your friends are ready to buy tickets.
Rework Your Concert Budget
There’s more than one way to do something. The whole point of this post is that you absolutely DO NOT have to go broke to attend this (or any other) concert. Below are a few strategies to keep in mind so that you can figure out how to pay for beyonce and rihanna tickets and how to manage the additional expenses.
- Know what you value the most-If you want to be super close to the stage, that is going to cost you. But, if that is what’s going to make or break your experience (being close to the stage) then that probably means you need to invest more in the tickets and where in the venue you’ll be seated.
- Accommodation-If you don’t really care about accommodation and are willing to be flexible staying in a bougie hostel + hotel hybrid in the town that you’re visiting might be a great way to economize. These hybrid spaces have become increasingly popular and are often a great value for your wallet. You can choose between single or shared rooms or stay in both. Many of these properties have a kitchen, restaurant or offer a meal (breakfast) if it’s a hostel. Not sure what I mean? I have been known to stay in a shared room for 2 days and then move into my own room for a few days. It helps to stretch my budget. I’ve also included links of a few examples of the types of properties that I’m talking about. You’ll have to research the city that you’re visiting. These properties will typically be locally owned or part of a small regional chain.
- No Vacancy (Kansas City, MO)-I LOVE this place. I was planning on attending a conference in KC and this was where I would have stayed. Unfortunately, I decided to skip the conference.
- Freehand-I stayed at the Los Angeles location and absolutely loved it. I did opt to do the shared room and then switched to a single for the days I was attending my conference. The rooftop bar and pool were fantastic.
- The Society Hotel (Portland/Bingen) I stayed at the Portland location while attending a conference in 2017. It was a great experience and I’m looking forward to staying in their new property.
- Don’t buy new clothes-The people attending the concert have never met you before or even seen your clothing. Maybe you just rethink what you already have and focus on cute accessories versus an entire wardrobe. Statement pieces can make an outfit.
- Set a souvenir budget or avoid buying them altogether-The experience at the end of the day is the most important thing. Souvenirs could be that one thing that you skip on because the pictures you take will show that you were there!
- Rethink your transportation-While I wouldn’t fly Spirit, I do regularly fly Frontier (grew up in Colorado-it’s from Denver) and I’m 100% ok flying it. I’m also short. If you don’t want to economize on the flight. Check out TravelFreely (a free app) to see how to optimize your travel rewards points so that you can fly in the way that you prefer. The best part? You don’t have to put in any personal information in order to use the app. Finally, seriously give Amtrak a second look. Amtrak has multi-ride passes as well as the USA Rail Pass that you can purchase for $500 at the time of this post. You can then travel for a month using that pass. I’ve included a link so that you can check that out. One piece of advice, if you opt to use Amtrak, reserve those tickets earlier than you think you should.
Spend some time imagining how you would like your experience to be and then begin working on your strategy. One word of caution. If you are splitting expenses with friends, pick the most responsible friend to be the point person for that and use an app such as Splitwise to help you manage that process.
Open Up a Dedicated Savings Account
Open up a dedicated savings account that’s difficult to access. There are a number of online savings accounts that you could use to do this or even open up a credit union account if that’s available to you. Make sure that you avoid any institution that isn’t FDIC or NCUA insured. NCUA is the insurance for credit unions. Be wary of neo banks which have become incredibly popular. Neobanks aren’t necessarily banks, they are often accessible via apps. But, they’ve also been known to close customer’s accounts without notice. You don’t want that to happen to you.
Do your due diligence!
How to Pay for Beyonce and Rihanna Tickets
Word on the street is that Rihanna has also recorded a couple of songs for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. I don’t know if we’re going to be that lucky (I hope so) I just want you to enjoy any opportunities that you would like to enjoy without dealing with long-term financial stress.
I’ve shared a number of ways to pay for Beyonce and Rihanna tickets so that you don’t have to stress out if they decide to tour. I know those memes/gifs are joking, but I don’t want to joke about the financial well-being of women.
Basically, avoid having a financial hangover from attending any concert or music festival. For women, especially Black women, we deserve our joy but we also deserve to be financially secure. Let me know how you decide to plan financially for your next favorite tour.
