I was toying with having only one post in this month’s Link Love. Paula Pant from Afford Anything wrote one of the best posts that I’ve read not only this month but this year. The post is: The ONE Critical Thing Holding You Back. She is the “post whisperer.”
Tonya wrote a truly honest post that I can totally appreciate and understand about the process of aging and self-acceptance. Accepting Yourself, At Any Age. I’d rather age than the alternative (be dead) but it is at times a rough process.
Kylie from Kylie Ofiu writes the 12 tips for happiness. I am working very hard on this as I have been unhappy off and on for a long time due to debt worries, etc. I have been quite happy this past year and I want to aggressively stay in this great mental space.
There were a lot of recaps on FinCon and one of my favorites posts was from Lauren at L Bee and the Money Tree-FinCon Was Like Christmas and Birthdays All in One . I am one of her staff writers and this is the second time I’ve been lucky enough to hang out with her this year. The first time was in Atlanta. I hate to admit this but the ATL bloggers are amazing!!
I also picked another FinCon recap for an entirely different reason. It was written by Kathleen from Frugal Portland. The post, entitled-#FinCon13 Pictures and My Reaction to a Sexist Comment was great food for thought. I did not notice the comment when it was said and if I had heard it, honestly I would have thought it was funny. That being said, what this post reminds me of is that when you’re in the public eye you really have to be aware of your audience!! I believe that the speaker was joking and if he had been with a small group of people it would have been a joke amongst friends. However, he was addressing a large group of people in a fairly formal setting…so oops!! I will be cheering everyone on next year at whatever competition they decide to participate in.
Over at NZ Muse she and hubby continue their travels in the U.S.A. I was concerned about the government shutdown leaving them with a negative opinion of the States. Happily, the Government reopened.. however, they did have to skip a park because it was closed 🙁 I do hope that my fellow ‘Mericans are being nice with them and that they are having a stupendous time. I don’t eat sweet food so I am wondering about all the sweet foods they’ve been eating. We might have to d.m. via twitter so that we can get them eating good food that won’t give them sugar shock! Check out: The Great US Road Trip: Oddities and observations so far.
Mr. 1500 has a hilariously disturbing trend writing about poo. It’s actually quite amazing how much poo ties together with money. This week it’s in the form (hehe) of a rant. Thursday Rant: Solid Gold $hit
Moochi writes a very disturbing post at save.spend.splurge please read this and think about what you would do to protect yourself. How I almost ended up being sexually assaulted.

Thanks for sharing that Save.Spend.Splurge post about sexual assault. I think we (as a society) do a really poor job educating young women (and men) about what sexual assault is and isn’t and what your rights are if your are assaulted.

I think that it’s very easy to not listen to the voice in your head that says something is WRONG-RUN-LEAVE. I want to help keep people thinking about their safety and informed about the subtle behaviors to watch out for and the situations to avoid.

Thanks for including my happiness post. Glad you liked it 🙂

I think people need to be mindful about working on their happiness. I think that we get distracted by all of the stuff that is happening in our lives and can get dragged down by the crap that’s out there. I am working hard to “own” my happiness and it’s a process. I appreciate the post!
