Finally, things are starting to heat up over here! My ultimate goal is to have a conversation about personal finance that helps other financially single women, educate myself at the same time, and MAKE SOME MONEY. Passive income. Seriously, I love passive income and I’m finally starting to see an uptick in blog related income. Now, I just have to grow my email list. In all seriousness, it has taken awhile to figure out what is the right monetization mix for this website. The ultimate goal was to find a mix of products and services that I actually use that align with the website.

March Blog Income $624.66
This is the actual cash that I’ve actually been paid and has hit my account. Please note. I made $11.14 in March of 2018.
$550-Money on the Mountain Ticket Sales
$74.66-Book Sales
I’ve begun sharing blog income reports as a way to measure my online business earnings. This section does not include the following:
- Partial earnings that haven’t hit the payout threshold. I DO understand why people get excited about earning money. I don’t understand reporting that they have a partial earnings of $3 when the payout threshold is $150. How long will it take them to earn the other $147?
- Freelance writing projects-I still do some freelance writing and I am actually picking up a few more clients. I know, you’re shocked. But, now that my revenue is balancing out, I’m comfortable adding a few more clients.
- Side-Hustle Income-Currently, I work one fun side-hustle. My friend runs a brand ambassador team that I’m on and I have a great time with it. This week I’m being PAID to stay in Vail and Breckenridge, give out this product, and chill. I’m 100% ok with that. Because I’m trying to finish paying off my unsecured debts by May-I will continue to side-hustle.
With Pending Earnings-$1857.92
The earnings below were earned in March but will pay out within the next 30-90 days. I’ve begun showing the difference between pending and paid because there are a number of bloggers who share both without making the distinction.
$244.26–Autumn Stone Books. These earnings will be paid out in 60 days at the end of May.
$95–$10KVA affiliate sale (I think that’s the amount) I’m thinking it will be paid out the first week of April
$894–Elite Blog Academy Affiliate -I’m thinking this will be paid out sometime in June. Usually EBA pays in 90 days.
The great thing about this is seeing the difference between March 2018 vs. March 2019. Again, I only made $11.14 a year ago during the month of March. I’m starting to focus a lot more on marketing my products such as my “Make Money with Ebooks” course and my Autumn Stone book sales.
One thing that has surprised me is how easy things feel this year. I’m not building a course, or learning anything new-I’m now in marketing mode.
Course building, testing, and tweaking is a lot of work in the beginning to figure out what does and doesn’t work. If you’re thinking about creating a course, I highly recommend it…but, be prepared for your beta phase to last longer than you may expect.

Thinking About Starting a Blog?
I love blogging! It has been an incredible experience, transformed my life, and connected me with a ton of amazing people. Blogging is a pretty cheap activity and I recommend hosting your blog with Siteground. Many bloggers have begun leaving HostGator and BlueHost and moving to Siteground. Myself included! Read why I’m leaving HostGator and BlueHost (I have 2 blogs one on each hosting platform) and moving to Siteground. If you’re a new blogger Sitegroundwill cost around $3.95 a month (depending on the size of your audience). They have great customer service and tutorials on how to host your new WordPress blog on Siteground. Check out the following guide by Elite Blog Academy on how to set up your blog.
Online Business Resources
If you’re thinking about starting an online business, the resources below are a great way to get started.
- The Ultimate List of FinCon Community Products
- Courses
- Books
- Swag
- Make Money with Ebooks–There is more than one way to make money with your writing skills. I’ve created this course to help inspire, educate, and support writers who are sitting on a book idea…and are afraid to write it. This is YOUR year.Make Money with Ebooks is offered at three different tiers to meet different student needs.
- Self-Study
- Group Program-Includes access to the closed Facebook Group and twice a month live office hours.
- VIP Program-Includes access to the closed Facebook Group, twice a month live office hours, and 2 meetings with Michelle to work on book related strategies, goals, etc.
- $10KVA–Are you curious about becoming a Virtual Assistant as a side-hustle or a potential full-time gig? My friend Kayla Sloan is killing it as a Virtual Assistant and schooling other entrepreneurs in how to become a VA that earns on average $10KVA. This course is what I recommend as the first part of creating a virtual assistant business.
- Making Sense of Affiliate Income-If you’re looking to make affiliate income with your blog, Michelle Schroeder-Gardner’s course is the course that I recommend. She makes well over a $1 Million a year blogging and the biggest chunk of her income comes from affiliate marketing.
- IMark Interactive–Grayson Bell helps me with all of my website related tech issues and he is THE go to guy for WordPress related tech in the several different blogging niches (all the Personal Finance peeps work with him).
- Elite Blog Academy-Many bloggers have gone through this course and I consider this course the “Granddaddy” of all blogging courses. It’s not cheap, but in additional to getting all of the resources that are key to building an incredible blog, you’re also become a part of an insanely supportive (and huge) community of bloggers. Many of whom are making crazy money.

I love that your income report focuses more on the earned income instead of the pending. As you said, it doesn’t really make sense to add $3 even though the payout is $150. I think some people do that to make their numbers look better. I’d rather read one like yours that keeps it all the way real.

I think that people share incomplete numbers as a way to motivate themselves and I get that. But, I’d rather show how it takes time to build up the earnings consistency. So, as I begin earning more each month that will eventually become better earning months with money in my hands.
