The last year has been an homage to hard work, deep introspection, and the power of self-help books. Yes, I admit that I attribute a HUGE part of my ability to make profound and sustained changes in my life because of the guidance of self-help books. Some people go to a therapist (which is a great option), some go to a religious house of worship (also great!), others do yoga, read self-help books, and many people do a combination.
I Prayed, Did Yoga, And Read Self-Help Books
And, I’m in a very different head space than when I started my blogging journey. I deeply believe in the power of a well written and well-proven theories that we can implement in our own lives.Recently I was listening to a Smart Passive Income podcast and discovered the story of Hal Elrod, a hugely popular motivational speaker, successful entrepreneur, and guy who came back after being dead for 6 minutes after being hit by a drunk driver. Blessed. He also lost everything, was in debt, and depressed several years later when he discovered a life changing formula that he thankfully wrote about and I’m about to share with you today.
I want to be honest about something before I share Hal’s profound and life changing theory.
I Want More
I want everything that this life has to offer. I want love, wealth, power, and the ability to help others. I think a lot of people are uncomfortable to share that truth. I want it all and I’m not afraid to say. But, if I want to do it all what am I willing to do to get what I want? That is ethical, legal, and in line with my beliefs? I shared this video before but I want to share it again. It’s funny but is so honest. I want to beat MY Average.
I’m willing to work to get what I want. And now that I have more energy to take the next step. Enter Hal Elrod. He wrote The Miracle Morning which talks about the morning ritual that he came up with that increased his productivity, increased his wealth, and improved his life overall.
What is The Miracle Morning?
Basically, the Miracle Morning is a system that sets up its practitioners for success. Yep, first thing in the morning. Let’s be clear-in the past I’ve…ahem…stated that I’m not a morning person. Even though I LOVE sunrises, the crisp cool air, and the fact that no one is around to annoy me. But mornings have been a struggle because I had a crazy commute, people yelling at me, and a crazy amount of stress.
Now things are different. I have a busy schedule but I can tweak it so that I can get things done. But for the past month or so I was feeling like I could do…more. And while I’m feeling this way I’m stepping up my game.
The Miracle Morning has six components to it under the acronym S.A.V.E.R.S.
- Silence-Spend some time in mental silence (meditation)
- Affirmation-focus on affirmations that move you towards what you want.
- Visualization-Focus mentally and literally on your vision for yourself. I will be spending time reviewing my Vision Board.
- Exercise-I was losing weight (kind of) and then I gained 5 pounds last week. I’m tired of how slowly my weight loss has been going so it’s time to step it up.
- Read-This one is my favorite! I love to read. But the reading is specifically on non-fiction topics that will help you move forward in your life.
- Scribing-Journaling-I used to spend a lot of time with my journal. I do journal, but it’s been years since I’ve done it on a daily basis.
Last Year’s Intuition
Last year I tried this. I hadn’t read the book, and hadn’t hear of Hal. However, most of us are smart enough to intuit that getting up early can be a useful tool. I couldn’t sustain it though because I was so freaking tired. And, how I framed my getting up early was very simple in my mind. “I have to get up early so that I have some time to do things for myself.” A little vague.
Now, it’s a little different
I am getting up early because I have a plan and vision in my life that I need to implement.
- I have cleaning to do.
- I have Spanish to study.
- I have weight to lose.
- I have negative thoughts that I need to eradicate from my mind.
- I have people I need to meet.
- I have work that needs to be done for clients.
- I have volunteering that I want to do.
- I want to make a difference in my life and others.
My Miracle Morning 30 Day Challenge
I’ve spent too much time focused on all of the wrong things. I am no longer interested in doing that so I’ve decided to try waking up early again. Waking up every day with a plan, goals, and the idea that I’m taking care of MYSELF first is an exciting change of pace. And you know I love a challenge! I’ll let you know how it goes at the end of the month.
When I was a little girl I couldn’t wait to get up! I took my Flinstone vitamin everyday, at a fantastic bowl of Lucky Charms or Cocoa Puffs, an additional glass of milk, some cartoons, and I was ready to ROLL! For years I was pretty freaking excited when I woke up. Don’t get me wrong I was groggy . But I was so happy! I want to tap into that feeling again.
Why did I resist the beauty of morning? Or the fact that every day is a miracle. Please be clear, I felt that every day was a miracle. It just felt like I waited until I was 100% awake to acknowledge that. This time the minute I wake up I will acknowledge the miracle that is my life.
But I Don’t Have The Time!
If you don’t have the time check out the 6 Minute Version of the Miracle Morning.

Morning person here 🙂 I get up by 4 am without an alarm clock. But seriously, I think affirmations are wonderful. I did them for the first time as part of a natural birth course and I realized through that hoe important it is to mindfully overcome the negative self talk we all do. Life changing. I should do more of that!

I am back from my morning walk and even though I’m still not completely awake-I’m pretty happy with all of the things that I’ve done already! I woke up at 4 a.m. did the S.A.V.E.R.S. studied some Spanish, and then took an hour walk (I also took some pictures of the goslings in the park). It’s 7:40 a.m. and I’m about to have brekkie and then get moving on what I have to do for the day.

I had started to do something similar last month but got off track, and now I have to adjust things as I have the kid living here for a couple of months, although truthfully I don’t know how long it will last since my cat is being an asshole. Long story and I’m grumpy from not sleeping well on day one because of it. 🙂 But this reminds me a lot of what I’ve read in Jack Canfield’s books. It definitely is worth a try!

Pepe is like-who’s this dude?! I haven’t read Jack Canfield’s books so I will add those to my list. The Miracle Morning is a quick ready I highly recommend it!

I find this very inspiring. Whenever I make time and space in my life for what you call SAVERS, I feel the benefits almost instantly. Thank you for the reminder!

Thanks Julie! I am a little bit tired but it has been a very, very good day.

I started reading Hal’s book, but then got distracted with our DFGs stuff. Some great suggestions here. We already incorporate most of them in our lives. Getting up at 4:45am each morning sure helps us get a lot more done! Congrats to you for going for it! It feels great to be uber productive.

I’m getting up pretty freaking early. But, this is the most productive I’ve been in years. It’s kind of scary! I do want to take a nap…but, it’s so hot that I would like to do that anyway.
