I am still amazed by the fact that I have been self-employed for a year. It hasn’t been a perfect transition, but it has been the right decision for me. As I work towards becoming an entrepreneur in 2016 I am confronted with making some decisions that I interestingly had to make once before on my journey towards freelancing.
I’m finding myself starting to really deal with issues managing the different tasks that need to be taken care of as I juggling working on some large projects for myself as well as for other organizations.
I’m seriously considering the parts of my business that I might need to get help with in the interest of growing my business and making more money. It’s also important to me to manage my health and wellness and my sanity. I can’t do everything, something has to give.
I Paid For Help
And I liked it! As I worked towards self-employment while working at my previous job I paid for help in order to give me the mental space and clarity to make big decisions and make changes to my life. One of the changes that I made was paying for a grocery delivery service* so that I could give myself more time to focus on what was important.
In fact, if my place were a teensy bit bigger I would actually hire help to keep my place clean. To be honest, I don’t really understand why people are so resistant to getting help so that they can focus on the tasks that they need to perform in order to move towards the goals that they have set for themselves.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to pay a small amount of money so that you could make 2, 3, or 4 times the amount in the same amount of time? When I’m a parent I will be unapologetically having my mom help me as much as possible with my future kids.
I will pay for time saving services such as Thrive Market* (an organic online grocer) where you can buy healthy and yummy grocery items with out going to the grocery store. One of the biggest time sucks that I had to cut out of my weekly routine was grocery shopping…all the time! I saved time and a lot of money by using a online shopping service before quitting my job.
Interestingly, almost all of my European friends have someone who helps them with one of the following: child care, household tasks, or business related tasks.
Why are Americans so uncomfortable with admitting they need help? Well, I’m saying it-I will be getting help and SOON.
In The Meantime
I’m beginning to start putting systems in place so that when I decide it’s time, I can hand over the tasks that are sucking up my time. You don’t have to be rich to do this, just frugal where you need to be and strategic in the way that you feel your money should be spent.

I’ve become a lot more comfortable paying for help in the past year. I try to keep my business expenses as low as I can, but I am getting better about paying for things I really need, like help with the beans.

I am starting to really look at processes to see if there are tasks that can be handed off to someone else. I am not Super Woman.

I can’t believe I’m reading this!! I just told my husband, “we need some help around here. Why don’t we start with having our groceries delivered?” And the we didn’t because it seems soo extravagant. I’d like to hire someone to make us some meals that can be frozen and are ready to eat. I work full time and am a full time student. I can’t do it all!! I just don’t know how to start.

We can’t and should not be doing everything on our own. I am not Super Woman, I don’t want that type of “street cred” and I want to free up time so that I can make more money. There will be a point when I hire someone to help me and they will be appreciated! Take care of yourself!

Paying for help is really advantageous especially when you are so busy and getting help is advisable. I see no problem with at all when you are maximizing your time and money.

It’s on my list of things to do in the future. Until then I have to be a little more efficient.

I have been very seriously considering paying for housekeeping. I haven’t got around to finding out more details so that my spouse and I can mull it over, yet, though.

When I’m married that’s the first thing I’m paying for. My mom thinks it’s hilarious because I’ve always said this. I love a clean home, that doesn’t mean I need to be doing the cleaning.

I don’t mind cleaning the house, but it’s cooking I really hate and would definitely consider outsourcing in some way. I have seriously been considering services that do any one of the following,go to a place where you can do prep work and/or pick up ready made meals or use a service where they deliver ready made meals or prepped ingredients to your place. So basically meals on wheels for millennials. Lol. I love eating, but I don’t like the grunt work behind making the meal.

Those sites have gotten super, super popular. I personally really love to cook so that wouldn’t work for me. However, my thoughts are-why waste your time doing something you don’t enjoy…when you could be doing that you love or that makes you money. That simple.
