I knew it was finally time to rebrand my blog when the 4,444th person couldn’t remember the name of my blog. And, they didn’t understand what they concept was. Finally, I had changed personally and professionally and felt that it was time to have my blog reflect those personal and professional changes. So, I decided that it was time to rebrand. If you’re about to rebrand your blog, there are some unexpected surprises that will happen along the way and I thought I would prepare you for them.

About to Rebrand Your Blog?
It will take you longer than you expect. There is an endless amount of details that have to be focused on when rebranding your blog. You have items ranging from:
- Changing your url
- Potentially changing your website hosting. I plan on changing mine to Siteground Here’s a post detailing why I now prefer Siteground for hosting.
- Figuring out the business identity you would like to show the world
- Changing your social media and what to do when someone holds a profile that would be perfect for your brand.

- Other people’s feedback-I received consistently good feedback BUT I also got very important feedback that helped me clear up confusing brand messaging.
It’s an Emotional Process
This was surprising to me because I didn’t realize how emotional the process could be. Basically, you’re closing the door to one part of your blogging life and opening the door to another part of your blogging journey.
You will find that there are people who don’t like how you’ve changed your website, the content, or how you’re know representing yourself as a brand.
While I’m really excited to be at the end stages of my blog rebrand, I understand that some people won’t like:
- The new content that I’m sharing.
- How the website looks.
- Or, the fact that I now sell courses and coaching.
I’m ok with that. Fortunately, I have pretty tough skin. However, for some people, these criticisms or critiques could be very uncomfortable to experience and self-doubt may creep into your otherwise well thought-out decision to change your brand.
You’re a “Brand” Now What?
Besides changing my website because I’ve changed, I felt it was time to be the “brand of me.”
Michelle, You’re a brand?
Yep, I am as of this moment because I’ve declared it. I sell courses, coaching, and I make money online with my likeness and expertise. Does that not qualify as a brand? And, I changed the name of my blog to “Michelle is Money Hungry” because it’s not only a declaration that I want to make money. There is no confusion when you land on my website that I:
- Sell services
- Have courses for sale
- Make money with affiliates
- There might even be ads on the website
When you rebrand your blog and your online projects, it’s an opportunity to be incredibly clear with anyone and everyone what your intentions are with your project.
What are My Intentions?
When I first started blogging my goal was to share my personal finance story. It was a gory, painful, and stressful time in my life. And, I had no intentions of doing anything other than sharing.
Now, things have changed. Here my goals and intentions with my online projects.
- Help people earn money (specifically passive income) with digitally based projects.
- Make my money
- Share the arc of my personal finance journey. From extreme debt, to entrepreneur at the mid-point of my debt repayment journey, debt-freedom, then to F.I.R.E. focused entrepreneur. That’s the arc. And, to make that happen-I have to make more money.
That simple. There is no confusion LOL! I’m finally nearing the end of what has become a year and half long journey. Has it been stressful, painful, and a little annoying?
Yes.
