Like most people I started the year off with a list of goals that I was hoping to achieve this year. Here is the link to the original post.
It’s shocking to say (to me anyway) but, I have achieved some of the goals already!!!
Work
I applied for a Professional Development program offered through the national organization that I belong to. It’s pretty competitive and only 75 people get accepted into the program.
I was ACCEPTED!! This program is a 9 month commitment-travel, mentoring, etc My job is paying for my participation and all travel related to the program. The only casualty of this program is my trip to my Up With People reunion. For some reason (am being sarcastic) my job is balking at me being out of the office for almost 6 weeks in a year! The professional development program wouldn’t use vacation time. Also, I have accumulate a ton of vacation time so my trip to my sister’s wedding in May and the trip in July would have been covered. I have decided to not be too pissed about it and be excited about the big trip that I will take at the end of the year using all of that vacation time!
Vegan Challenge
I did it! One slip up=my friend bought me lunch, it was delicious and I couldn’t say no. Will talk about the challenge in a separate post.
Spanish
I enrolled in another Spanish class and am enjoying it immensely. My professor is the most chill educator ever. I really needed a good class that wouldn’t stress me out too much.
The Shop My Closet Project-in the news
Well, it’s not in the news! But, my blog is in my library’s monthly calendar. I will be doing a talk on how to shop your closet and use the thrift store as a way to frugally look fashionable without breaking the bank. We will go to Magical Goodwill to practice some of the skills that we will learn during my talk.
Fitness
This has started off slow, but, I think this is a good thing because I will miss the fitness for the New Year craze that happens at the beginning of each year. I will be trying out Crossfit next Saturday for free! And, after I finish my Vegan Challenge. I need some meat protein in me before I start doing a Crossfit workout. Yoga is so awesome-and so expensive! I take Bikram Yoga but I prefer to take it when it’s cold outside. This year Colorado has been really warm. Last week I didn’t wear a jacket for 4 days (I brought one with me of course-I’m not crazy). Finally, it’s getting cold enough for me to redeem my unused yoga Groupon and combine it with free classes that are offered by the studio that I go to. I have signed up for the Fight for Air Stairclimb and will be doing it three weeks from now.
Dating
Obviously, doing Crossfit is both a fitness and dating opportunity! Have you seen the Crossfit guys? Good grief! I have also joined in addition to Match.com, OkCupid. I am looking forward to the comedy that is dating if anything funny comes up I will let you know.
Money
I haven’t spent my whole paycheck! And, I didn’t do the savings shuffle. This is a huge achievement. It looks like I’m on track to pay a bill off at the beginning of February or end of January. I don’t want to jinx myself so we shall see.
Library Fines
I am so excited! I have only paid $.50 in fines so far this month. Considering that I was paying close to $6.50 every other Saturday makes this a HUGE accomplishment.

Darn it that reminds me I’m l late returning a couple of books. I can’t believe I fail at this because it’s a block away. ugh! Well I guess it still beats buying new books. Good for you with your goals! I love the library talk. How cool! And good luck with dating. sigh…I have no idea when I will have time for that “project” again. I just hope that I meet someone the old fashioned way in the middle of my hectic life. Crossfit is HUGE around here. I’ve never tried it though.

I would always be at the library if I was one block away!!!Love that place. The library talk was FANTASTIC! And I was paid $100 to do it. My first blog related income. As for the dating, it’s a long-term project. I have also decided to look at my schedule every week to block out a day for dating. That way I always have a day available for that. I took a free Crossfit class on Saturday and I still can’t lift my arm without experiencing some degree of pain. Will go back…but pace myself differently next time. The adonis who taught us was very friendly as were my classmates. Happy Wednesday Tonya!

Congrats on getting accepted for the professional development program! One of my goals is to learn Spanish, as well – I know super basic, but using Live Mocha and Rosetta Stone to hopefully become more conversational. Great goals, it seems super well-rounded and best wishes with them!
