For the past year or so I’ve been a bit fed up with my online business. I really enjoyed what I was doing, but it was time for me to make money (real money) with these projects. There are many people who blog, podcast, and vlog without the intention of ever making money from their projects. I’m not one of them anymore. There are a couple of reasons why I’ve worked so hard to make money with my projects and I’ll get into that further into the post. Check out my August 2018 blog income report. There’s a lot to learn from it and I think you’ll find it interesting.

August 2018 Blog Income Report
In the beginning of July, I had a conversation with my friend Sandy Smith from “Yes, I Am Cheap.” We are in the same mastermind group together and for reasons only known to us, we decided to kick things up a notch and set some pretty audacious earnings goals for our online businesses.
I will only speak for myself except for the following-by taking this one action we both have substantially increased both of our businesses earnings.
By a lot.
I also launched a series of books and created a course called “Make Money with Ebooks” that I’m very excited about and proud of. Thinking about writing books and sitting on your ideas? Watch my free webinar in the trial area of the course or just get started and buy it today!
$1881.39
Is what I earned during the month of August. But, I just played a trick on you to prove a point. I was actually paid $1,053 during the month of August. The extra $828.39 will be paid during the month of October.
And, this is why I don’t like it when people report earned income vs. paid out income. It’s a HUGE difference.
Here’s the thing, what I’m unable to grow my earned income during the next month? What if I earn a crazy amount of money with my affiliates and they pay out 2 or 3 months later? I’m an Elite Blog Academy affiliate and I love that program. The annual sale for that course was in March and guess when I got paid? June. Looking to start a blog? Check out the Elite Blog Academy blog bootcamp.
For me, I find that reporting cash as it actually flows in, gives a better snapshot of the work that has to be done in order to create and grow long-term blog income.
Let’s do this again.
$1,053.68
I am very proud of this number. This is passive income earned from the following affiliates/courses/ or projects.
- $37 from Ibotta-I love this Denver-based app, it helps me save money on groceries. And, it helps me help other people save money too. Sign up using my affiliate link and earn $10 towards your first $20 payout when you redeem your first savings.
- $97-Break Up With Clients-This is my affiliate marketing course that I’ve created for creativepreneurs with lower page views. While it’s always better to have a ton of page views, it takes time to get there. But, you can still earn affiliate income while you grow your projects. If you are a blogger/online coach of some sort/ vlogger/podcaster (you get the picture) you will learn the ins and outs of how I get myself in front of affiliate income ALL THE TIME. By the way, this is a networking based course and strategy. You’re meeting clients, leverage everything about those connections ethically. Sign up today!
- $38.68-Amazon Affiliates-Again this is is an affiliate that pays 60 days from the time then money is earned.
- $881-“Make Money With Ebooks” Course Sales. Let me just say this right here. I LOVE WRITING BOOKS!! You know why? Passive income for the win. Ebooks have made me the most in passive income from my business endeavors. I want to teach everyone all about it. Sign up for the course today. Get started, stop sitting on your book ideas. The students and free webinar attendees are rocking it out!
Total: $ = 1,053.68
Income reported in my blog income reports do not include:
- Freelance writing-even though I do earn money freelancing
- Side-hustles-I have a fun side-hustle that I still enjoy doing.
- Book Income-that will be paid out 60 days from the month that it was earned.
- Pending Payouts-If it’s not in my bank account, it hasn’t happened yet.
- Incomplete earnings-Besides being really confusing, what if I never meet the earning threshold to get the payout? Then I would be reporting some incomplete earnings forever.
I would like to also make a point that sometimes a product or opportunity will jump out at you unexpectedly, the ebooks and the ebook course are an example of that for me. I’ve had a ton of fun with it and paid attention to how people reacted to my results. Then, I created a product and community connected to that product so that my clients will WIN.
Self-Care
Because we pushed so hard in July and August, I found myself exhausted by the end of the summer and spent Labor Day Weekend resting. Typically I work during holiday weekends, especially because I’ve done so much brand ambassador work.
Not this year.
I just didn’t have the energy and I didn’t want to. Instead, I’m focusing on selling my products and services.
