It’s woo-woo time-I’m just letting you know! Recently I was hanging out in a private Facebook group when someone made a comment concerned about losing out on potential income in their burgeoning digital business. It was in that moment that I articulated something that had been on my mind for awhile and it’s this:
There is a lot of money out there to be earned it’s my job to figure out the most authentic and comfortable way for me and my brand to tap into that money.
Or, as another well known personal finance blogger said “don’t have a scarcity mentality there is plenty of money out there!”
I will admit that I don’t feel like I’m making enough money right now. I’ve had epic months and then I’ve had some lackluster months. Part of what I recognized was a lack of clarity and focus on the actual type of work that I wanted to be doing as a self-employed person. The other issue I was dealing with was a bit unexpected and one that I admitted to my Mastermind group today:
Truth be told…in my heart of hearts I think that I believed that I could never REALLY be good at what I’m trying to do. That type of success happens to OTHER people…not me. That’s ridiculous of course, but I had to own the fact that I deep down this is what I was thinking and that this limiting belief was keeping me from pushing myself as hard as I need to create a series of breakthrough moments.
By holding onto this limiting belief I was blocking the abundance that is out there waiting for me to embrace it.
Changing Your Attitude of Scarcity
Will Grow Your Finances. There is no way around it. There is a ridiculous amount of money waiting for you, and me, and your cousin to earn it. The key is to believe that you can, help others, and be authentic in your mission.
Why call it an attitude of scarcity versus a scarcity mentality? Some people have the attitude that there is not enough…so why try? Why bother? Why push hard? I might be splitting hairs but I think that you can have a scarcity mentality and scarcity attitude.
For those of you who have read my blog for awhile you know that I have had a lot on my plate: I’ve struggled with finances and life in general. I’ve spent years working on habits, and just the stuff that’s in my head and as I take these tentative steps towards really creating a brand identity I embrace the notion that the world is my oyster and it’s your oyster too.
In a country like the United States there are endless ways to make money and help others.
Pet Rocks
Let’s remember that people have purchased pet rocks. The last time I checked you could bend over, pick up a rock and draw a face on it. People buy stupid sh$t all the time. What is it that you can do that will help someone and will earn you money?
My Future Business Goals
- Grow a community-I‘ve begun to meet my first members of The D.O.N.E. Society. It is my goal to provide support, laughter, light, and information to people who would like to create their best lives through digital entrepreneurship and helping others.
- Become a Motivational Speaker-I love, love, love inspiring others to do their best. This is a constant in all of my professional roles.
- Make Serious Seven Figure Money-In the next 2 years. Why not be bold?
2015
I’m going to let you in on a little secret…2015 was great, but I didn’t enjoy everything that I did professionally. I discovered that there were tasks that I really hated and I’ve taken them off my list of things that I do. I also learned what I absolutely loved! And began seriously making moves towards doing what I will excel at moving forward. I used to put so much pressure on myself to figure out everything now but the discomfort that I went through was a part of my journey. If things came together too easily I’m not sure that I would have learned what I really needed to learn so that I could move forward and do what’s right for my business.
It was good to discover what I didn’t like and let those tasks go! And now that I know what I love, and would do for free and actually helps other people-the money will follow. How do I know this? I’ve seen it happen over and over again with other friends of mine who are growing digital businesses.
I’ve created room in my professional life to grow wealth.
Scarcity Mentality And Life in General
I live in a “First-World” country and in a very rich part of the country. In my specific case, other than having some debt-that I am paying off life is pretty good.
- I have plenty of food.
- I have shelter.
- An epic education.
- I have lovely family and friends.
- I’ve traveled around the world.
I have more than enough. There are billions of people who would be so thankful to have what I have and I am practicing gratitude everyday. I have everything I need. There is more than enough work that can be done to help others. What’s your gift? Share it with us and make some money at the same time.

This is so true! There are limitless opportunities to make money in the U.S. Find your passion and become perfect at it. Opportunities will arise!

Thanks Jordan for stopping by! I think that the biggest issue with recognizing opportunities is also recognizing that the economy has changed on a fundamental level. It’s not based on manufacturing anymore but there still are numerous opportunities to: help, motivate, and inspire others with actual physical or mental labor. My goal is to really help people identify opportunities within the context of this changed economy.

I spent a lot of time thinking about this issue especially when I decided to work for myself. I spent a lot of time imagining where I would find money and I realized it was everywhere because there are people everywhere to serve.

Absoluitely true, changes are necessary but I not always easy!!!

The hardest thing that I’ve struggled with is saving. I am frugal, I believe there is money everywhere, but I’m not “there” yet with my money journey.

Changing your mindset definitely helps you for the better. I tell people all the time that there is no shortage in money and that today is the day to start some kind of online hustle. You’d be surprised at how many people tell me that I’m crazy when I say that. It’s like they are afraid or something.
Michelle says
Mindset is huge, huge, huge. I’ve spent a lot of time really focusing on what I tell myself and working on what I believe in terms of what I can do. Online business or utilizing the internet for a bricks and mortar business is the way to go. The issue is: getting people to understand and “get” the big picture. That takes time.

Yes yes YES. It may not always seem like it but there is TONS of money out there. And I would like some of it. For some people it’s about entrepreneurship, for me it’s about finding organisations that I click with and coming on board with my skills as a valued employee.
I must admit the biggest leaps I’ve ever made have involved a bit of a financial risk/gamble (ie I didn’t truly have enough saved up yet) but I did have a plan and yes, things worked out. I don’t subscribe to the Secret mentality of manifesting whatever, but I do think there is power in removing scarcity and fear from your mindset/attitude.

I think that there is intersection between finding money out there and connecting with organizations that you click with (as an entrepreneur or otherwise) This has been a huge mental shift and realization for me as I move forward into working for myself.
