Do you ever have deep thoughts that you want to share but aren’t really sure where and when? I have been furiously editing my Girl Gone Frugal Podcasts and realized that there was an opening to share those random thoughts with you! So I decided to share mini episodes called Michelle Gets Meta. (2/2/2016-I will share these short episodes but I won’t call them Michelle Gets Meta. They will be shared on Tuesdays)
They are a part of Girl Gone Frugal, I just wanted to have a name for these mini-podcasts. This week’s show is called Consumer versus Citizen. Basically I’m talking about the change in our daily language when referring to American citizens. More often than not we’re referred to as consumers. This bothers me and during the show I’ll tell you why.
- Consumer versus Citizen
- I’m sick and tired of a couple of things and I tell you what they are
- Embracing minimalism
- My side hustle
- Let’s Start a conversation about Consumption versus Savings
- My Australian friend’s observation about America
- I love America, but I expect better from us
This Week:
This week’s Girl Gone Frugal Podcast Episode is with Tess Vigeland author of LEAP! And, know NPR personality. If you are looking to LEAP!, change your life, or just find this topic interesting listen to this episode! It will go live this Thursday, December 17, 2015

I totally agree with you about Americans spending way too much on things we really don’t need. I think thats why I love it here in Japan, for there is no pressure to create an ambiance that you have arrived. I love being an American, but I don’t think I will ever move back to the U.S. Love the mini meta podcast!!

Thanks Petrish! I have a lot of random stuff floating in my head LOL! Part of the reason I’ve decided to remove myself from traditional working norms, etc. is so that I can live my best life. Thank you regarding Michelle Gets Meta-it’s also a nice way to continue sharing content when I don’t have interviews. Fortunately I have a ton, but I think that this will add to what I’m sharing. They’re also a lot easier to produce LOL! I’m not surprised that you’re staying in Japan. I love where I live but I’m kind of spoiled…as long as I can travel it’s a pretty great lifestyle and Colorado people aren’t to focused on that ambiance you describe. BUT, what a lot of us do for fun can be a little pricey (weekends in the mountains/skiing/games).
