I buy a lot of product. One might say that I have an addiction. But, in my defense it’s really dry in Colorado and we are always in search of products that will keep our skin moisturized as well as protect us from the sun. The other issue is I get excited by all of the product that’s out there. If it’s Yes to Carrots promising a non-greasy coverage, or buying product at Bath and Bodyworks because they have the best sales, or if I’m in TJ Maxx and some random off brand has a luscious flower and fruit combination that I’d never heard of-I’m in! I’m the girl you go to when you want to find out about a new product. Lipgloss, lotion, and sunblock are my non-negotiables in my skincare regime. At the end of last year I decided that these purchases were beginning to cross the line and that I was becoming one of those people that you see on t.v. with a home completely overrun with half filled bottles of lotion, unopened containers of lip balm, various brands of hair conditioner and numerous bottles of perfume. Something has to give. So, as I tighten up my spending in the Shop My Closet Project household it’s time to start using my sh$t. It doesn’t mean that I’ve stopped buying product. It does mean that I won’t buy anything until I use the last bottle of an item. So, right now I have at least 4 or 5 bottles of lotion, 4 bottles of perfume, and numerous 1/2 used travel sized products. I’m using them up. Every last drop. Once the specific type of product is used up, then I will buy a new item. I probably won’t be buying lotion, lip balm, or sunblock for awhile. DId I mention that I have stuff at work too? It’s almost like being a hoarder! Check out the pictures below. Let’s use our sh$t! Start sending in some picks. While you’re shopping your closet and using your sh$t you should start to save some money. Let’s start paying attention to the details of our financial lives. Every little thing is up for review because cleaning up these little purchases will make a big difference to my budget.

I do the same thing with new products because I’m quite the product junkie. I have a bunch of bottles left with 25% stuff left in it. Good challenge!

I bet you have a lot of good stuff like I do. Now I’m really enjoying using it up and getting rid of the clutter. I just couldn’t throw any of it away because the bottles still had product in them.

I must have 10 eye creams. Anti wrinkle, anti dark circle, anti ageing…..Clearly none have worked, but I kept buying. No more. Time to use them, whether they work or not? I have 24 month old twins. No cream can hide that sort of exhaustion 😉

LOL! Twins. I have so much respect for parents of twins. Are they your only kids? I think you might need a vacation instead of the eye cream! Or, a massage.
