This post will be short and sweet. I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far. Good luck to everyone who is running a 1/2 Marathon this weekend: Tonya, Anna, Kathleen, and if I missed your name please leave a message in the comments! You will rock your races, and I can’t wait to read your posts about your experiences.
Sadly, I decided to postpone my 1/2 marathon to May because I didn’t feel like I was fit enough and had trained enough to do well in the race that I planned to run. I was sick for the entire month of November and it took awhile for me to feel better.
It’s a good thing that I decided to do that as the race is the same day as THE SUPER BOWL!!! Did I fail to mention that the DENVER BRONCOS are playing in it?? Clearly, this would have been a huge conflict of interest. So I will be cheering on everyone…and watching the game. Not only am I being responsible for my health, I’m saving money, and giving myself time to focus and run the best race that I can in May.
Kylie Ofiu talks about the 10 Steps for Success With Goals. It was perfect timing for me as I move towards self-employment.

Grayson from Debt Roundup talks about changing your debt mentality.
MochiMac at Save.Spend.Splurge confronts her parent’s connection to stuff. If I had my way I would throw out everything in the basement and anything in between. It’s a hard post to read and I find it interesting that a lot of us are connected to loved ones who hold on too much to things that they probably don’t need. Is that why we are ruthlessly downsizing??
Kathleen (Frugal Portland) and LaTisha (Young Adult Finances) have started a revolution. I’m joining them in changing my savings strategy. People, we aren’t saving enough! They are urging us to save at least 50% of our income!! I’m in.

I wrote the following post for Lauren’s blog: L Bee and The Money Tree-Why Not Now? I am still thinking a lot about this post and thought I would share it if you haven’t seen yet.
Side Hustle and Flow…
I am getting back into my side hustle groove. I slacked a lot in December (I was exhausted) and even though I started slowly I’m feeling pretty good about what I made. Things I did included:
- Taste tested natural energy bars
- Staff writing
- An ad sale on the blog
Total: $275
I think it’s important to also think about the amount of time I spent on these side hustles. Basically, the ad sale took about 15 minutes, the taste test was 30 minutes, and obviously the writing took longer (I have to re-write things, etc.). That’s a great return on my time. When I side hustle I think about what will take the least amount of time but make me the most money. Once you switch to this mindset I’m convinced you’ll start finding better side hustles. Did I mention that I didn’t really begin my side hustles until the second week of January? I’m writing another post for next week about what I’m using that money on!

I will be glad when the superbowl is over. It’s only Wednesday and getting around midtown is already a pain with all the events and influx of tourists.

I didn’t realize you would notice the difference. Manhattan is always so busy! Stay sane 🙂

Thank you for the mention Michelle and nice work on making some side cash. I can agree with being exhausted, but it was this month for me.

I’m tired. But, I have to rally and get as much sleep as possible in between all of the hustling that I’m trying to do.

Thanks for the shout out for the 1/2! My calves are SO tight so that has me worried a bit but hopefully by Sunday… Enjoy the day cheering on your team. I have no real allegiance to either but since I did live in Seattle for eight years I guess I should be cheering for the Seahawks? Meh, it’s just about the commercials for me. 🙂

I am so excited for everyone! You ladies will kick a@@. I’m excited about the Game. I was a cheerleader for 6 years so I really enjoy football and basketball!! The last couple of years I stopped watching for the commercials because they released them so early. I’m really happy that they didn’t do that this year. I think you should go to yoga to stretch out. Bikram, not the regular-Birkram always works for me.

Thanks for the well wishes, Michelle! May is just around the corner, I know you will do amazing in your race! 🙂 Sorry to say, though, but B hails from Seattle so I have to show the Seahawks my love – it will be a great game, though! 🙂

Kick butt!! I just needed some more time to prepare. This works out well because I will spend only $69 versus $1,000 for the trip/hotel/race/ and food. I am so annoyingly responsible nowadays!

Thanks for the link love! I am only hoping that one day I will not have to rent a huge skip and just junk everything…

You won’t! Maybe your parents will decide to downsize and surprise you!
Kylie Ofiu says
Thanks for including me and good luck with your half marathon!

Thanks Kylie! I hope all is going well and I’m slowly beginning my training again. Emphasis on slowly.
