It’s a weird thing to say…but, I felt like I was sleepwalking through January. The Government Shutdown triggered some financial PTSD and signaled an unnecessarily crazy start to a new year. This was frustrating to me because I had the idea that I would hit the grow running by the middle of January. Nope, that didn’t happen. Instead, I’ve hit the ground running in February! I’m back at it, focused, and crazy energized. And, even though I was initially kind of frustrated with my lack of results in January-I decided to take a look back at January of 2018. A lot has changed.

January 2019 Income Report-$326.43
In full transparency, my primary focus in January was consistency. It’s my belief that it’s very difficult to grow digital income without consistency. As a result of this focus I’ve seen an increase in the following numbers:
- Podcast downloads
- Pageviews
- Social Media Followers
- Email list subscribers
- My income-did not go up LOL!!
I’m also primarily focused on growing income in 2019 and that focus kicks off now (February). With the exception of a mini-course that I plan on creating, I will not be building any new products. However, I will be writing books!
Paid Income Only
My primary focus is on growing my passive income. And, I only report on income that has actually been deposited into my accounts. The reason for doing this is that it’s a much more accurate (in my opinion) than including:
- Incomplete earnings
- Earnings that are below the payment threshold
$405.14-Earned in January
If I were to count some pending income being paid out in 60 days from the end of January. Initially I was a little unhappy with this until I took a look back at January 2018 and realized that I made a whopping $22.84.
Wow!
That’s a huge difference. Especially when I look back at the entire year. I made the most that I’ve ever made with my blog in 2018. And, I know that I will make more in 2019. At this point I’m a lot more confident in what I’m doing, understand what doesn’t work, and I know what does.
Now that I know this crucial information (and I have a course) it’s GAME ON! Looking to write your first book? Check out my course “Make Money with Ebooks.” Love my course and love the authors in it. Get started writing your first book TODAY!
- $118.50–$10KVA best course out there for learning how to become a kicka$$ Virtual Assistant. My friend Kayla Sloan is an incredible trainer and people love the VA’s who take her course.
- $207.93–Autumn Stone Romance Books and Amazon Affiliates. I’m combining the two to keep it easy for me to report right now.
What’s Not Included
In addition to incomplete earnings, I currently don’t include the following types of income in my reports:
- Freelance writing
- Side-hustles

- $540.00-July 2018***For some reason I didn’t create an income report for July. I’m thinking it’s because I was writing books and working on my course.
- $1053.68–August 2018 Blog Income Report
- $2694.12– September 2018 Blog income Report
- $1,149.52–October 2018 Blog Income Report
- $860.96–November 2018
- $303.55-December 2018
Total: $8513.15 for 2018.
I’m pretty excited about this for the following reasons.
- This is passive income and given the following:
- I didn’t work hard in January, June, November, and December
- I was tinkering with systems, figuring out ideas, and this is the most I’ve ever earned from my blog
- I’m really proud of the results
- I built products and courses and can grow that income.
- This doesn’t include freelance writing or side-hustles
- This income sets the stage for 2019 and what I will focus on moving forward.

2019
Already I’m feeling a lot more at ease moving into this year. In previous years I was always trying to figure things out.
- What affiliates did I like?
- What affiliates resonated with my readers?
- How to monetize ethically?
- How to even monetize?
- How to grow my page views?
- How to create a course
- Email lists-how do they even work?
Those questions are pretty much answered. The main areas that I’m focusing on are the following:
- Creating Facebook Ads that convert so that I can sell my course/books/retreat
- Writing more books.
- Growing page views.
And, of course, making more money.
Literally, that’s it. Three areas of focus that lead to my ultimate goal-making more money. There is finally a level of simplicity in my business that I’ve been hoping for. And, it hasn’t come soon enough as I needed things to shift forward. I’m looking forward to seeing how much I can grow this report and my income this year.
Thinking About Starting a Blog?
I love blogging! It has been an incredible experience, transformed my life, and connected me with a ton of amazing people. Blogging is a pretty cheap activity and I recommend hosting your blog with Siteground. Many bloggers have begun leaving HostGator and BlueHost and moving to Siteground. Myself included! Read why I’m leaving HostGator and BlueHost (I have 2 blogs one on each hosting platform) and moving to Siteground. If you’re a new blogger Sitegroundwill cost around $3.95 a month (depending on the size of your audience). They have great customer service and tutorials on how to host your new WordPress blog on Siteground
Online Business Resources
If you’re thinking about starting an online business, the resources below are a great way to get started.
- The Ultimate List of FinCon Community Products
- Courses
- Books
- Swag
- Make Money with Ebooks–There is more than one way to make money with your writing skills. I’ve created this course to help inspire, educate, and support writers who are sitting on a book idea…and are afraid to write it. This is YOUR year.Make Money with Ebooks is offered at three different tiers to meet different student needs.
- Self-Study
- Group Program-Includes access to the closed Facebook Group and twice a month live office hours.
- VIP Program-Includes access to the closed Facebook Group, twice a month live office hours, and 2 meetings with Michelle to work on book related strategies, goals, etc.
- $10KVA–Are you curious about becoming a Virtual Assistant as a side-hustle or a potential full-time gig? My friend Kayla Sloan is killing it as a Virtual Assistant and schooling other entrepreneurs in how to become a VA that earns on average $10KVA. This course is what I recommend as the first part of creating a virtual assistant business.
- Making Sense of Affiliate Income-If you’re looking to make affiliate income with your blog, Michelle Schroeder-Gardner’s course is the course that I recommend. She makes well over a $1 Million a year blogging and the biggest chunk of her income comes from affiliate marketing.
- IMark Interactive–Grayson Bell helps me with all of my website related tech issues and he is THE go to guy for WordPress related tech in the several different blogging niches (all the Personal Finance peeps work with him).
- Elite Blog Academy-Many bloggers have gone through this course and I consider this course the “Granddaddy” of all blogging courses. It’s not cheap, but in additional to getting all of the resources that are key to building an incredible blog, you’re also become a part of an insanely supportive (and huge) community of bloggers. Many of whom are making crazy money.
