Tonya from Budget and the Beach nominated me for a Leibster Award!
What does Liebster mean? It has German origins – the word “liebster” has several definitions: dearest, sweetest, kindest, nicest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, welcome, and sweetheart.
I will answer a few things about myself, nominate 5 blogs and ask them 11 things about themselves, and they will continue the chain 🙂 You can check out the rules for the award here.
1.) What is the best thing about where you live?
I live in Colorado and the best thing is the quality of life. I am very fortunate to get to go bike riding, relaxing on patios talking to friends while having a drink and great food, watching fabulous theater like The Book of Mormon, going to the mountains for camping/hiking/snowboarding/hot springs, or watching the professional sports (Denver Nuggets/Denver Broncos, Colorado Rapids, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rockies). And, it’s sunny over 300 days a year. Hehe. That’s me in August about to be snowed on at Rocky Mountain National Park.
2. Who is the biggest inspiration in your life?
My mom. It’s a cliche. But, she is the most amazing person I know. She has worked her a@@ off and I think did an amazing job of raising me on basically no money. Because of my mom, I have a high regard for education, an understanding of ethical behavior with and how to work hard. I wish I could be as selfless and generous as my mom. She ROCKS!!
3. Who would play you in the movie version of your life?
No Brainer-Aisha Taylor. She’s hilarious and dorky. She’s into HALO, I’m into Firefly. The casting works!
4. Is there anything about your life you wish you could go back and change?
Nothing, I like the person that I am today and all of the great and crappy experiences that I’ve had made me what I am today.
5. What is your favorite recreational activity and why?
It’s a tie-Reading and riding my bike. If I could do both at the same time and not get hit by a car I would. I love reading because it takes me to another world. I love to ride my bike because I love to explore and see things face on.
6. What is your favorite quote?
Umm… I have a favorite poem, and book. I would say the entire “I’ve been to the Mountain Top” speech that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave the night before he did is the most amazing thing I’ve ever heard. He was assassinated the next day. It gives me chills every time I hear it.
7. Where do you hope to take your next vacation?
I would love to take a 2-3 month vacation to Australia, New Zealand, and Bali. Am saving up vacation time as we speak.
8. What is your biggest pet peeve?
People who repeat what I’m saying at the same time I’m saying it. It’s so weird!!! I speak clearly. Why are you reading my lips and repeating what I’m saying? You’re not deaf. AAAAGGGHH.
9. What is your favorite song right now?
I am God by Clams Casino. You’ll like it too. No megalomania here. Enjoy.
10. What do you wish you were better at?
Listening. Ahem.
11. What is the legacy you want to leave behind?
I want it to be said that I was a generous and kind person who was a great friend, wife, mother, and daughter. I want to treat people with kindness and compassion. I would like to leave behind a legacy of giving and help educate people on wealth and wellness. I would also like to create a legacy of travel as well and introduce low-income adults and youth to other countries and cultures. Am slowly working on this as we speak!
Thanks again Tonya for nominating me!

Ah, I would love to go to Bali! Keep us posted on your trip updates as you get ready and save…might help me get up the gumption to save for that after our wedding!
Michelle says
I have a lot of friends in Australia so that part of the trip would have free housing. All of my Aussies have insisted that I go to Bali while I am there. I’ve begun saving for a BIG trip in another couple of years so we will see how it goes.

Ahhhh thanks 🙂 My mom does drive me crazy in the way that moms do. But, I would never change her and am super blessed to have her as my mom!

Hi! I am leaving this comment because I would like for you to update your Liebster Award post with the correct link. I am going to be deleting my old site (Lorraine Reguly’s Life) and so would really appreciate it if you could update your post with a link to Wording Well. This is my new site, and because I have moved my “old” post to my “new” site, you will be left with a broken link if you don’t change it. I don’t want this to happen! Besides, http://wordingwell.com/the-liebster-award-the-official-rules-my-first-blog-award-and-a-few-personal-secrets-revealed/ is still the same post it always was, but the domain name has changed. This may not seem like a big deal to you, but it is to me. The internet is forever – or at least until we change things, so, please, can you change this for me? (Thanks!)
