This year I decided to share my blog income reports . I wanted to show that there are a ton of long-term bloggers who waited to monetize their blogs and that monetizing is possible regardless of the blogging stage that you’re at. My May Blog Income Report reflects a bit of a blogging slow down on my part. Fortunately, I’m excited about the opportunities that Summer will bring and I’m looking to see if my new marketing blitz will start paying off by the end of summer.
Ok, let’s breakdown May’s blog income report.
*In order for me to support my blogging activities, I may receive monetary compensation or other types of remuneration for my endorsement, recommendation, testimonial and/or link to any products or services from this blog. Please read my disclosure here.*
May 2018 Blog Income Report: $217.96 (Cash)
I’m a little underwhelmed by my May earnings BUT I’m very happy to have achieved a major goal that I set for myself: earn monthly affiliate payouts. And, at the time that I’m writing this post I’ve already received more in affiliate payouts than what I earned in May. Nice.
The Breakdown:
- $217.96-Sponsored Content (Podcast and Website)
I didn’t really focus on growing my affiliate income last month. Instead, I focused on finalizing product ideas and funnels that I’ve been working on. Happily, I’m in the process of building out the following upcominng products:
- A podcast Monetization course
- Romance Novel Series (this will be written under a pin name and I won’t share it LOL!)
- Unsexy: A Savage AF Money Story (my personal finance book-self-published) I’m releasing it in July click here to get on the waitlist!
- A course about communication
- Business Networking Accelerator Group Coaching program-Click here to schedule a 20 minute networking strategy session.
For the past year I’ve really thought about the importance of having my own products. After I rebranded my blog and narrowed my focus-I felt it was a great time to launch my own products.
Non-Cash Affiliates: $20
- AirBnB-Yay! Next year is looking to be a big travel year so I’m looking to grow my AirBnB credits. New to AirBnB? Sign up today and get a $40 travel credit for your first trip.

Some things you should know about my income reports.
- Real Cash-I only report income that has actually hit my bank accounts. You will never find me reporting that I made .07 towards an affiliate payout. What’s the point? In fact, I have an affiliate that is .22 cents from hitting the payout threshold. Nope, I don’t even mention it because it could take months to earn that payout.
- No Freelance Writing-I earn money freelance writing but I don’t include that income in these reports. I want to focus on passive income.
- Side-Hustles-I’m winding down side-hustle income and plan on finishing with side-hustles this month.
- Sponsored Content-Includes podcast and website sponsors
- Coaching-I’m in my beta launch for my coaching program and I hope to begin adding clients soon.
- Combined Income-I have two websites and podcasts. Currently, I plan on reporting the earnings in a combined report. But, I may change that as earnings grow.
- Using (and growing) my email list-Umm…I’m a little embarrassed to admit this but, I haven’t used my email list at all to grow my income. That changes in June and I’ve worked on an editorial calendar for my email broadcasts. I anticipate that my income will go up once I begin emailing regularly.
Also, I’ve noticed that it has become easier to implement and strategize my affiliate income. There are certain affiliates that do really well without trying too hard.
June Goals: $1,000
At this point I’m pretty close to $1,000 the first week of June. I fully plan on earning (and receiving) a minimum of $1,000 in affiliate/sponsored payments by the end of the month.
One of the best things that I’ve done this year was to say “no” to anything that doesn’t move my business forward.
I’m also hoping to sell a few units of my podcasting course as well…so, we’ll see how that goes!
Want to Start a Blog?
I love blogging! It has been an incredible experience, transformed my life, and connected me with a ton of amazing people. Blogging is a pretty cheap activity and I recommend hosting your blog with Siteground. Many bloggers have begun leaving HostGator and BlueHost and moving to Siteground. Myself included! Read why I’m leaving HostGator and BlueHost (I have 2 blogs one on each hosting platform) and moving to Siteground. If you’re a new blogger Siteground will cost around $3.95 a month (depending on the size of your audience). They have great customer service and tutorials on how to host your new WordPress blog on Siteground

I absolutely love that you don’t share your freelance writing income or income that hasn’t been paid yet. I never liked it when bloggers adding income that clearly wasn’t from their blog such as freelance writing. It definitely skew figures and can be confusing. Good for you staying focused. I look forward to your products rolling out!

Well, the thing with freelance income is that if I include it I worry that I will focus on growing it versus growing passive income which is what I love. The incomplete earnings makes no sense to me and it’s confusing to people.
