It is the New Year and if you’re like a lot of people out there you’re making some New Year’s Resolutions. One of the most popular resolutions is to lose weight. After hibernating for the winter, eating delicious holiday meals, and adding a little protective layer from the cold most of us have gained a few pounds. It’s time to hit the gym!
I started on Black Friday after the Exploding Pants and Tiger-Mom incident of 2013. I purchased a Shaun T hip hop abs dvd last year and have been thinking seriously about purchasing a P90X set of DVDs this year. You can’t argue with the results! I’m just afraid that I will lose momentum have through the series. The P90X Base is the standard product and is offered at $39.95 for 3 months or about $100 dollars. I like the idea of doing the workout before I get ready for work. I’ve had a hard to time motivating my self to workout in the morning without a set workout routine.
In the past week or so I have been getting up earlier than usual and doing my workout. I AM NOT a morning person. I AM, however, a person who is over bitching about my weight and how it makes me feel to not feel healthy and fit.
I want to also confess the two other reasons why my weight bothers me. First, I don’t want to become a statistic. I don’t want to get diabetes, or have difficulty walking, or high blood pressure. I already have problems with my left ankle and left knee after years of cheerleading, dance, gymnastics, hiking, and walking. I know that losing weight will help me manage the pain in my knee and ankle. Second, I’m a little vain. Yes, I’ve said it. I want to start posting fashion pictures on my blog. But, in the past year I’ve started feeling more and more uncomfortable taking pictures. No selfies here! I used to feel so good about myself…and now-not so much.
I should say that as I pay off my debt I do feel a lot better about myself but now I feel like how I’m presenting myself isn’t matching the tiny glimmers of self-confidence that are bubbling under the surface.
I’ve spent some time looking at some Youtube testimonials of Beachbody product users. I am only talking about people using the products-not selling them! That’s a whole other post. I loved seeing the transformations of regular people who just dug deep and got it done. In their homes, with a dvd. They fought for themselves. I realized that I had to do the same.
Please note, this is an affiliate post.
Beachbody has about 20 different exercise products that they sell in addition to Shakeology-their nutritional shake. I do think the shakes are expensive and have already found a shake that I enjoy drinking-it tastes like a Wendy’s frosty!!
I’ve looked at several before and after posts on youtube where people have used P90X successfully. The thing is, all of these systems don’t sell an easy fix. You have to put in the work every single day. Day in and Day out to have a successful outcome.
Consistency, diet, and exercise are the keys to successful weight loss. You should always consult a doctor when embarking on a new fitness journey.
Have you used P90X? What was your experience? Would you recommend it?

My advice-if you care to hear it is don’t buy P90X…yet. Test yourself in your ability to do at home difficult workouts using free apps like Nike Training Club or Gain Fitness. If you do that on a regular basis, you might be ready to purchase P90X. It’s HARD! The last thing you want to do is spend money and then have it go to waste because of the challenge of working out at home. That’s just my two cents! 🙂

I agree Tonya! I’m actually starting to really enjoy working out again and I have been pushing myself. Basically, I have been getting up early and getting it done. Not easy, but I’m feeling pretty good. It will be better when it’s lighter outside. I have to admit that I’m really intrigued by all of the results that I hear about, and wonder if I will get the same results? Until then, I will continue to do what I’m doing. I think I’ll know when it’s time to take it up a notch.
