Tomorrow is day number one in my second year of debt repayment. You have to understand that this an arbitrary date that I set because I felt like it was time to start again.
Sometimes you have to start fresh or in this case I’m starting from zero. I will then spend the next month using up items in my pantry, staying close to home, and recommitting to being a lot more conscious on my debt repayment journey.
I have to admit that I was hit with a great deal of debt fatigue this Spring. I was just so over everything. Thinking about debt, being broke, being super organized and mindful about EVERYTHING. I just got tired of it. Now I understand why it’s recommended to spend 2-3 years on debt repayment. It takes so much of your mental energy to stay focused, energized, and committed to the goals that you’ve set for yourself that it’s easy to give up and decide that it’s just not possible to achieve the goal of debt repayment.
Of course that’s just ridiculous.
I’m more than capable of paying off my debt but I need to start fresh. I want to tap into that excitement that I felt when I first started, when I believed 100% that it was possible for me to set this goal and attain it.
I need to reconnect with that open-eyed enthusiast who began this journey and I’m in a great frame of mind to do that right now. I’m relaxed, I’m focused, and I believe again.
So, I begin year #2 of my debt repayment journey on July 1, 2014. It is also the beginning of the fiscal year at my job so it works well.
Have you ever done a reboot? How did it go?

I feel like every month is sort of a reboot. lol! I think that’s why I set monthly goals. No two months are the same as far as plans I have, things I want/need to spend money on, etc. I think that mental reboot is always refreshing and invigorating.

Since I have the exact same income and the same job sometimes everything just feels like Groundhog’s day! I tend to get weirdly focused on stuff and can focus for long periods of time on certain goals…HOWEVER, debt repayment isn’t sexy so I’m finding that my enthusiasm wans from time to time-drastically!

Best wishes with the reboot, Michelle! I like having reboots, as well, especially during mid-year to reassess and recalibrate. I hope you finish strong for 2014. 🙂

Anna!! Thank you very much for the well wishes. I had some things come up that were super distracting and stressful. I’m happy to say that I have been able to manage these moments with ease and laser-eyed focus. I’ve changed a lot so in the past these types of things would have stressed me out. Now, I just focus and get it done.

I just started my stay at home job, so I have been trying to refocus myself and my finances to stay on track during this transition period. I’m hoping for the best.

Debt fatigue is so real! Ugh, I totally know what you mean. I think I need a reboot, too.

I just got so tired of focusing on everything and feeling like there’s no point to it. This is ridiculous and I know this but sometimes it just feels like it’s taking forever. Sigh. I’m so glad that I am giving myself the chance to refocus and start fresh.

Debt fatigue is real! I’ve been dealing with it, too and it’s tough. It’s hard to think I have years left, unless I dramatically make more money, which I’m working at. 🙂 I think a reboot can be a good thing.

I just needed to start fresh. I have at least 2-3 years to go and it’s a little overwhelming! However, to achieve this goal would be phenomenal. So, I keep plugging away. I already feel a lot better about things and am making some adjustments to my debt repayment plan.

Props! I understand the need to start fresh. I hope to do that with my workout routine — I had been going strong with a particular daily challenge, but lost steam a couple weeks back. I was still doing the program but not enjoying it and feeling down and bitter about it. So, I decided to take a couple weeks off (just in time for vacay) and hope doing so will renew my energy and enthusiasm to start again! Best of luck to you!

It’s an ongoing process but I have a lot of room for improvement. I’m hoping the changes will be noticed in a positive way. Last time I checked-I’m not perfect! I’m trying to make some micro-adjustments that will make a big difference for me at work. Am sending you good vibes! You can do it.
