Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is one of my childhood favorites! Living in Colorado there are a lot of expensive outdoor activities that I like to take part in. Snowboarding, golf, tennis, and riding my bike. So, how do you participate in expensive activities without spending a lot of money? Buy your equipment from a thrift store. I purchased a set of tennis rackets from Magical Goodwill. They are in great condition. I spent a whopping $5 for 2 rackets. Then I purchased tennis balls from Kmart. Buy your gear out of season. This is huge! You will benefit from deep discounts as retailers try to move remaining inventory. I bought my snowboarding boots after the season was done. They were new and I think I spent under $50 bucks for a really good brand. They are still in good condition. If someone offers to give you something: snowboard, bikes, golf clubs, say “YES!” And then offer to pay. I always offer and I would be happy to pay. So far no one has insisted, even when I have. I have been given 3 bikes (1 is the cruiser that I have now), a set of golf clubs, and a snowboard. Two of the bikes I gave away to charity. The golf clubs, cruiser bike, and snowboard were given to me by friends who were moving out of town. Different friends, at different times. The equipment was in good condition and I love everything that has been given to me. I deeply appreciate my friends who gave me these gifts that kept on giving. This gear would normally occupy the “island of misfit toys” Once I am finished using this equipment I will then donate them to people who will give them a good home.
