Santa Monica-Venice Bike Path
(ocean is on your left)
I am currently in the process of repaying my debt. I am getting closer and closer to paying off a couple of credit cards and taking items out of a storage unit (long story). So, in the midst of this why on earth would I take a vacation? Shouldn’t I have put that money on my debt? Wasn’t this a bad idea? Well, sometimes you need a break. I decided to take an all cash vacation and redeem my frequent flyer points for my ticket.
Cost Breakdown
$107-Roundtrip ticket Denver-L.A. (usually around $300)
$55-SuperShuttle 1 way, and Flyaway bus (didn’t like that service), Bus to DIA
$200-Walking around $
$362
What did I do with this money?
1.) Amazing manicure in Beverly Hills ($20 including the tip)
2.) Ate at Malibu Seafood Shack-$20 (and saw Mel Gibson there)
3.) Purchased coffee on more than one occasion for both my friends C. and V. who hosted me separately $35ish
4.) Bike riding along the Santa Monica-Venice Beach Bike Path $20-my FAVORITE activity while I was there
5.) Food in the airports (D.I.A and Salt Lake City) $30
6.) Spent another $40 on miscellaneous stuff
7.) Returned with about $20 remaining
8.) May have lost $10!
The only regret is the lost money. I hate losing money. This break came at a great time for me. Sadly, the all or nothing approach doesn’t work well for me because I typically will spend like I’ve lost my mind if I am too hard core. I am feeling refreshed and focused and can’t wait to continue on my debt repayment journey. Because I took this trip my schedule for repayment had to be looked at and adjusted. I have two mini refunds coming and I am selling some stock in the next couple of weeks so it looks like I will pay off two credit cards by the end of December. As well as taking items out of a storage unit that I have been paying for. Will write a post about that when mentally ready.
Really, in the end this is all about balance.
