*Nominated by Brandy from Busted Budget and Catherine from Plunged in Debt*
Versatile Blogger Award-The Shop My Closet Project
Ok, so…I’m moving a little slowly these days. I am trying to manage how freaking tired I am right now so I was a little slow in putting together this post. I want to say a HUGE thank you to Brandy and Catherine for nominating me 🙂 So, here it goes.
- I am completely obsessed with Miami Vice. For realz. I can’t believe how current the topics in each show are: drug running, delivery of illegal weapons to bad people, love, sex, politics, broken dreams, psychosis, abuse of power, and the rest. I love it. By the way, it’s totally politically incorrect and I love that too . Here, I’m going to share a little video with you. Don’t you love it? Just ignore the clothes. I also liked the movie that they shot a few years ago. I’ll share a little snippet with you 🙂  . I love the music, the way they shot it. I just love the show. I even have a Miami Vice t-shirt.
ok, here’s a little snippet from the recent movie
- I am a really, really good cook. I love food. I love looking at it, eating it, buying it, thinking about it. Pinning pages on Pinterest. Food is love for me and I love to sit at a table and break bread with the ones that I love. I am the friend who takes pictures of my food when I cook it or when I go out for dinner (if it’s spectacular) No, I don’t want to be a chef because cooking for others for pay would make what I do for fun work.
- I love to travel. But, I love to travel slowly. I don’t believe you’ve really seen a city in a whirlwind of bus rides and flights too and fro.Nope, I like to walk around the cities that I visit, taking time to sit down talk to random people, go shopping, smell the air in the city, and talk to the people who live in the places that I visit. So, when I travel somewhere I find a cafe and forge connections with the people around me. Isn’t that what life  is all about? I have even made a dent in my travel plans but how I travel has changed. I’m selfish, I want more, and I want to see everything. Next places on my list: Iceland, Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, Colombia, Nicaragua, Australia, and New Zealand
- I am pretty much the stereotypical Coloradan I love: hiking, camping, snowboarding, exploring, hanging out on patios, playing golf, eating good food, and riding my bike obsessively. I just say no by the way. I am pretty much convinced that Colorado is the best place to live in the U.S. followed by San Diego. Â Why is it awesome? The people are pretty easy going, we like to have fun, well educated, innovative, and focused on work-life balance. We have gorgeous mountains, crazy weather, crazy people, Sand Dunes, hot springs, vineyards, and Mesa Verde. I want to raise my kids here have them learn how to snowboard when they are 3 years old, go hiking, horseback riding and hangout in the mountains during the winter. Picture below is from a hike that I took it’s about 10,500 feet above sea level.
- I am obsessed with tennis. My goal is to see all 4 tennis opens. So far I’ve gone to the Sony Ericsson Tennis classic in Miami and the U.S. Open in NYC. Can’t wait to go to Wimbledon, Roland Garros, and the Australian Open. I really love Rafa (Rafael Nadal) and Novak Djokovic! They are fabulous players, personable, and hot. They also happen to be great ambassadors for the sport. I used to play in 8th grade and would love to take lessons so that I can play tennis well.
- I traveled for a year with a fabulous program called Up With People. It is an international, intercultural, educational program with a musical component. We traveled the world for a year, volunteered in every city that we visited (65 cities during my year) We went to 21 states, Norway, and Japan. I traveled the world with a group of 130 adult students and staff. We are still super close to this day and I hear from one of my cast mates at least once a week. And, no, it’s not a cult 🙂
- I was a vegetarian for 5 years. I know, it’s kind of shocking to think about. Right now I’m trying to lose weight and am thinking about doing a hybrid diet where I get to eat meat at least once a week. I wasn’t a “Save the Animals Vegetarian” I was a “I just randomly lost my taste for meat vegetarian.” Why did I start eating it again? I wanted sushi.
Were you surprised by my revelations?Â

You didn’t tell me you were a Rafanatic!!!!! And a tennis fan. I’m a crazy tennis fan and love Rafa. I’ve been to Roland Garros, US Open, and Rogers Cup. I usually volunteer for the Rogers Cup in Toronto which you might have read on the blog. Wimbledon is also on my list but super expensive. I have a friend in the UK that said the best way to get tickets is to go there for the lottery they hold months before the tourney. I never got around to doing it, plus its expensive. I’ve taken lessons and played for about four years but it started getting expensive. I haven’t played in about a year. Sorry I just kinda went off on a ramble there…I’m always happy to meet a fellow Rafa fan!
Have you been to Indian Wells? Even though its only a 1000 series tourney it looks like it would be fun.

I am a complete Rafanatic! But, I almost love Novak just as much. You know what, I should add the Rogers Cup and Indian Wells to my list. What the heck was I thinking??!! My bestie is in London so it’s her and her husband’s job to do that lottery for me. I also have a couple of other English friends who can do that for me. But, my thought is if I’m going to fly to England and I’m there at that time then I have to go-even if I for one night inside and then the other nights watch it from the hillsides. I sense a road trip coming on Michelle! We need to find 2 other people (designated drivers) and then let’s rock this thing!!!

You and I share a love for traveling and we’d make great travel companions since I enjoy seeing places by walking through the various neighbourhoods and like you, talking to the locals! I hope you are getting some much needed rest this week-end; I feel dead tired myself!
Michelle says
I am convinced that we would travel well together! I also am very happy to go separate ways then meet up again-which is hard for some travelers to do. I haven’t gotten my rest yet. Basically, I’m looking forward to the end of the month when I visit my Grandma and then Thanksgiving for my rest time. I have just accepted that I will be tired for awhile longer 🙂

Of course you have to mention Colorado in your post! Makes me want to move their ASAP. I cannot wait! 🙂

I think traveling slowly is much more beneficial, but I tend to travel quickly to see more things. It’s one of the downsides of limited vacation days. I’m sure traveling for a year in that program probably highlighted the benefits of slow travel. The closest I got to that was a month in the Baja Peninsula in Mexico for a Rotary International program. You said you gave up being a vegetarian to eat sushi…do you eat beef/chicken/pork?
Michelle says
I as very interested in doing a Rotary program! That’s so cool that you did one. Would love to hear more about it. I actually eat EVERYTHING now (except pork).

I’ve never heard of Up With People but that sounds amazing!!!

Participating in Up With People is one of the highlights of my life. It was and still is awesome!
