So, if you’re longtime readers of The Shop My Closet Project you know that I am from Colorado. I’ve lived here since I was seven. I should mention that I have lived outside of the state for college, studied abroad, and when I traveled with Up With People.
I Love Colorado
That said, I truly love where I am from and I think that a lot of other people love Colorado too. I have been fortunate enough to travel to almost the entire United States with the exception of: Alaska, Washington State, Mississippi, Alabama, Vermont, Oregon, and I think two other states that slip my mind right now. So, when I say that I truly believe that Colorado is an exceptional place to live, I’m saying this having visited and experienced traveling all over these great United States.
On any given day in Colorado you will see while wandering around: runners everywhere, bicyclists, and the ever present sight of the Rocky Mountains along the skyline.
If it were summer I could go downtown and enjoy one of the many events that always seem to be going on: The People’s Fair, parades, the Chalk Art Festival, Movies on the Rocks, or the USA Pro-Cycling Challenge.
There is an inescapable energy that permeates the atmosphere. Colorado has finally arrived. Do you know what I mean? Instead of being the backstory, it has become The Story.
Colorado is filled with innovators, movers, and shakers. We are the home of good beer, the Broncos , and delicious Rocky Mountain Oysters…do you know what those are?
Growing up in Colorado I was fortunate enough to: horseback ride, go on Outward Bound, sleep away camps, and benefit from the lifestyle that we sometimes take for granted.
It’s time to encompass that love in a place where other people can also share their love of Colorado with me.
One of the biggest issues that I’ve had with how I was living my life in the past 5 years was that I was unable to really, truly, enjoy where I live.
So, now that I will be working in Denver, I’m looking forward to aggressively discovering new places, new people, interesting event,s and of course-places to eat!
So,today I am doing a “soft” launch of my new niche site: Colorado Luv Hub (www.coloradoluvhub.info).
What’s Colorado Luv Hub?
It’s my site about all things Colorado from: food, to events, people in pop culture, and everything in between. The site is far from complete and I will most likely be changing the theme soon. But, this is the second time that I’ve launched this site. The first time was on BlogSpot when I first started blogging but it was way too much to take on at that time and I made the choice to focus on The Shop My Closet Project instead. And, I’m glad I did that!
Colorado Luv Hub is an extension in my belief that people should support local businesses, use local goods and services, and enjoy all the fun stuff that we have here. But, if you’re not from here how would you know what’s awesome besides using YELP?
How will you know about all the secret little places that we have? Or, what’s truly a great coffee shop to go to and NOT an annoying hipster hang out with pretentious baristas? How will you know that we don’t ride to school on a horse, or walk through the snow to school both ways during a blizzard…actually, that can happen.
Why a “soft” launch? Because it takes awhile to truly populate a site and I’m overseas dealing with some connectivity issues. Nothing is moving fast over here…and, that’s ok!
My other hope in launching this site is to make your visit or move a lot more inviting and to give you a better understanding of what makes Colorado tick. I’m super excited about this project. If you have any questions please email me at: coloradoluvhub@gmail.com

Congratulations on the new web site! Mr. Maroon’s favorite vacation spot is the mountains. We haven’t had the opportunity to go together, so definitely next n our list. Now I know where to look for travel advice 😉

Michelle! My mom was raised in Colorado before she transferred to NJ when she got married. She brought us once in Rocky Mountain National Park and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. I loved it and I miss it!

It’s AWESOME! And, that’s pretty cool that you’re mom was raised here. I think a visit is on your list of things to do in the next couple of years.

I am really excited to do this again and think I will have a lot of fun with it. I’m also looking forward to the challenge of writing for a travel related site. It’s going to be an interesting learning curve.

Congrats on the new site Michelle! Make sure you post an article on why you need a lot of water and lotion when you visit the state. 🙂

Those are actually already in the works! I don’t want people coming and shriveling up like a prune.

Congrats on launching another site! I have only been to Colorado once and it’s beautiful. I have friends that have moved there and love it! As a resident of Seattle, I totally understand the need and love of supporting local restaurants, breweries and shops.

I really want to visit Washington State. I feel like I would love it! Lucky you 🙂 I think in all of our hustle and bustle we forget that it’s very straightforward to help our local economies by actually using local businesses.

I love the idea for your new site! One of my closest friends moved to Denver last year and she loves it. It seems like she’s always doing awesome things. I haven’t been out to visit her yet, but when I finally do I’ll know where to go for some info!
Michelle says
Thanks! It’s a great place to live and there’s a ton to do. But, people really have no idea what it’s like to live here. So, this will be the second time I try to do this. We’ll see how it goes!

I’ve only been in Colorado for about a year and a half but I knew I loved it the moment I arrived. I’ve lived in a few US cities and Denver is by far my favorite so far. Good luck with the new site. It looks great!
