It is very easy to forget as we plan picnics, catch up on time with friends and family, and finish long neglected projects that Memorial Day is a day to remember those that have died in service to the United States in numerous armed conflicts.
I wonder why there is always an enemy who threatens our way of life? And why do we forget about the enemies that we unwittingly invite into our lives? Like debt, mean people, and negative thoughts.
I refuse to believe that life has to be a constant series of conflict, anger, and fear. I can’t control the people who wish to harm me or my way of life but I can control how I react. I refuse to let fear control my life because if I do-then all of those people out there who wish me ill will win. And I won’t give them the satisfaction.
The enemies that I’ve invited into my life I am slowly eradicating. As I go through that process I feel a sense of peace that has been missing for a long time. On this Memorial Day I send you thoughts of peace and joy.
I wish you a life field with happiness and I want you to have the strength to literally and metaphorically laugh in the faces of those who wish you ill.
You have the right to live your best life. Fight for it just as those who have served in the armed forces have fought for us.
Remember.
“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.
