Recently I decided that I needed to freshen up my look. Clothes and fashion comes pretty easily to me, but makeup doesn’t. So, what’s a girl to do? Turn to youtube! Youtube is a nervous fashionista’s friend if you would like to see someone who either looks like you or appeals to your sense of style. This is a fun and free way to get makeover ideas without paying for a whole bunch of makeup at the makeup counter when you just feel like dipping your toe into something different. I found the following video for the makeup that I was interested in.

Here is another video in case the above video doesn’t work for you. There is a makeup guru for everyone.

No, I don’t do all of this. But, it did help give me a direction to start. Don’t laugh, but I didn’t even know what primer was. My focus has been always fashion and accessories. In Colorado we’re pretty natural, so I didn’t feel weird or out of place because I wasn’t wearing makeup regularly.
Both makeup gurus are great and talk about a lot of different fashion/makeup related topics. The second woman is a new mom and is sharing her journey through motherhood. Her baby is adorable! Yes, they are both foreign. Take some time on youtube to find someone who fits your personality and style.
Next stop is fashion:
A lot of fashion bloggers will post outfits of the week or outfits of the day. After putting one freaking video together I don’t know how they have the time to do this every day. But, this is a great resource to see how people are putting themselves together. Every type of person is out there and posting on youtube. So, it’s highly likely that you will find someone with a style that you would like to emulate. Unfortunately, everyone seems to be between 14-20 years old in these videos. It is a bit challenging finding videos for women who are older than their mid-twenties I will be doing some videos on this later. But, it is quite time consuming so I will probably be doing just one or two videos a month.
Perhaps you would like to add high-heeled shoes to your shoe collection. The TEVAS aren’t good for work but you feel uncomfortable walking in high heels. The last time you wore a pair of high heels was at your Aunt Betsy’s wedding. Well there is a video for you.

If you are interested in weight loss and transforming yourself, there are an incalculable number of videos out there of other people who are in the same or similar situation that you are in. Some of these people will include tips on eating and exercise. I will add the common sense disclaimer-obviously you need to consult your doctor concerning any and all weight loss programs that you decide to begin.
Youtube offers an easy and slightly time consuming way to get ideas to start your makeover journey for 2013. For the frugal fashion lover this is a noncommittal way of trying out new things without spending too much money. Have fun! Let me know how it goes.

I do light make up, but I’m no good at it. Haha I’ll have to start watching some youtube videos. I just don’t know any of the little secrets. But I also know that if the secret involves packing a pound of crap on my face I don’t want to do it. I think we operate similarly.

Some of the videos were really intimidating, I figured out a really basic makeup routine but I don’t always remember to do it. That being said, if I want to get crazy and really embrace a makeup routine I know where to start!
